Chasing a rattle. 2022 2TR-FE

1️⃣ Getting Started...
Hey everyone. Long time lurker, new member.

I’m chasing a rattle that happens specifically above 3k rpm under load, only in drive, in every gear. More common on steep inclines due but can happen on flat ground too.

I’ve checked the vvt data and run tests unplugging the solenoids, checked exhaust hangers and heat shields. Everything all good. Pulled the plugs, bore scoped the cylinders to see if there is pitting on the pistons from pinging. Fuel trims all look good, timing doesn’t retard during the rattle either.

Managed to capture audio in the videos from free locations inside the hood and under the car linked below.

Drivers side, under hood. Most audible around 20 seconds briefly and after 40 sustained.

Passenger side, under hood. Persistent throughout and sounds more pronounced.

Under the truck, next to transmission/oilpan/CAT. Persistent throughout.

2022 2TR-FE Tacoma with 19k
Been to dealership a few times, consistently saying “can not duplicate”.

Scratching my head where to look/investigate next while I await my appointment at a private mechanic.
