Catalytic Converter Protection

Hi All, I just got my first Tacoma, a 2023 TRD Sport double cab long bed. I'm thinking about protecting the cat converters because there is quite a bit of general auto theft here in Colorado.

Three questions:
-Opinions on whether it's necessary?
-What's the ideal solution, cost not considered?
-What's the best solution under$500?

I was wondering this myself. Is it worth it or will they just use the tools to take the cover off?

I added one to mine, cheap insurance. Can a slime bag still steal my cats? Sure, but it will take longer and more than likely they will just move on to an easier target.

Oh nice, thanks for the recommendations. I've been thinking of going the skid plate route.

Yeah it does seem like there's value in making the theft inconvenient in hopes they'll move on to easier targets.
