• Welcome to Tacoma3G.com, a free resource for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma owners!

This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Now, if the format of this website is confusing to navigate for you, or if you're interested in my full mission and T3G's history, check out the Help and About pages.

I'm new to truck ownership. Seen this come up. Not sure if everyone is familiar with it or practices it. I'm guilty of not staying on top of this and rarely do it.
Do you do it? Ill effects if you don't? I see the reasoning and see how it helps. But some people just forget.

You should drive in four-wheel drive for at least 10 miles (16 km) each month. This will assure that the front drive components are lubricated.

Hi Chris! Imho I think its a good idea. There is a front actuator in the front diff that slides to engage. Is lubed by the front gear oil. That actuator gets dry then might have difficulty engaging 4wd. Good to periodically engage 4wd keep that mechanusm lubed and working!

I actually heard this was a thing, confirmed it from that page in the owners manual. I drive mostly highway/city streets. But I have started doing that. Thanks for the info!
