A quick google search says that means the actuator is stuck inside the transfer case. Unless you somehow seriously botched unplugging and reconnecting the 4wd selector, removing the switch to do the chrome delete should have nothing to do with it. It sounds like an issue inside the TC itself that you just happened to notice after your switch was disconnected. If you have any warranty, bring it by the dealer and let them fix, otherwise it sounds like you need to take a look at the actuator itself and see what's going on.
