• Welcome to Tacoma3G.com, a free resource for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma owners!

This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Now, if the format of this website is confusing to navigate for you, or if you're interested in my full mission and T3G's history, check out the Help and About pages.

    Just installed Boss Aluma 2.0

Those were 265. I ran 265 up until 6 months ago so if your concern is lifting the truck and 265's looking tiny, you will be fine. However, since then I have up sized to 285/70/17 although still on Duratracs. If you are asking about the Aluma 2.0 shocks and SPC's.....they are good on...

What have you done to, or with, your Tacoma today?

100% PNP. One of the reasons I went with the 2 over the 3. Definitely have to cut and modify to fit 3.
  5. gelsi2033

What have you done to, or with, your Tacoma today?

Relocated traction control to overhead using the Meso 2 switch panel and an extension cable. I was prepared for a fight, but it wasn't bad, just a bit tedious routing the cable. Made room to add future switches although I am not sold on keeping rockers, but they are easy to connect to the KC...
  6. gelsi2033

What have you done to, or with, your Tacoma today?

The bumper fits exactly as before. The holes on the winch plate of my SSO bumper were large enough to allow for adjustment so the larger bolts fit without any issue. I would imagine most aftermarket bumpers would be similar. Once the stock studs are drilled out, they are simply replaced with...
  7. gelsi2033

What have you done to, or with, your Tacoma today?

Beefed up the front bumper mounting points with 1/2 inch grade 8 hardware and 3/16 steel reinforcement plates from Overland Outfitters.

    Anyone running U402 Stage 1?

I have Deaver U402 Stage 1. When fully loaded I have about 300# in the bed and it measured just over 23 1/2". However, @ARCHIVE recommends a different way to measure rear lift. When I did it his way I measured just over 9 1/2" which translates into about 1 1/4" of rear lift. If you are...

    Do I need Spindle Gussets?

Did you replace this outer seal when you upgraded your spindles? Trying to determine if this should be done at the same time.
  10. gelsi2033

    Do I need Spindle Gussets?

I do not know if these are a must and haven't had any problems yet, but pretty cheap insurance. Just need to find time to install. I have been looking around and don't see a lot of information on whether to replace the outer seals at the same time? I will definitely be installing these soon...

What have you done to, or with, your Tacoma today?

Returned today from Ouray, CO, Rocky Mountain Toyota Roundup. Would absolutely do it again. Black Bear pass was closed so will have to make another trip in the future. 4.5k miles round trip. The Taco performed flawlessly.
  12. gelsi2033

What have you done to, or with, your Tacoma today?

Yup. Now you need to ditch the spare and add the HC cross bar to complete the setup.

What have you done to, or with, your Tacoma today?

Stretched her legs today on her 2 year b-day. 2 years, a lot of mistakes and a crap ton of $$$$. Still could not be happier with it. Day 1 Day 730

Bumper Mounted LED Tail Light Strip

Saw this one but holy cow $$$!. It does check all your boxes....plug and play quick connect harness, sequential, Red, white, amber. For the price it should be high quality (one would hope). 3 year warranty according to the site.. Guess the question is how much do you really want all the...

Leaf Spring Comparison: All-Pro, Allcan, Icon, Dobinsons, Deavers, Archive, Dakars

Is this normal for Deaver? These are Stage 1. I continue to snap the anti friction pads and my overloads seem to slip out of alignment when under heavy articulation. Nothing terribly concerning but the pack is only a year old and I have replaced 4 anti friction pads and had to loosen...

What have you done to, or with, your Tacoma today?

Just filled a spray bottle, apply liberally, let it soak for about 10 minutes or so and then rinse and repeat as necessary (Remove engine skid prior to this so as not to accumulate crud on skid). Dried with leaf blower and let sit for 20 minutes before reinstalling my battery. Total process...

Do Diamondbacks covers Ever go on sale

Yes but don't expect much. I went back and looked and mine was 10% off and free ship Nov. 2020. On the bright side, you will never need another. It is definitely one of those "you get what you pay for" upgrades. Worth the investment if you are looking for a heavy duty cover.

    drizzoh's build thread

Absolutely worth it and clearly spec'd to optimize travel with hangers. I don't even notice they are there. As you know @ARCHIVE really knows his stuff when it comes to taco rear suspension and this is no exception. Before flipping I had sumos in the rear and they were just the wrong...

Great day for a trail ride with a bunch of different rigs. My 33's look so tiny next to Jeeps on 35 and 37's. Spotted something you don't see every day on the trails. He was able to keep up for the most part. Kudos to crazy builds.

Front is not a problem but if you want to avoid replacing your upper control arms you may want to stay at 2". I had my stock UCA for a year with 2" lift and alignment was fine, but ball joint on driver side wore out after just 18k miles and needed to be replaced. I opted to swap my control...

Reference New guy with a Question

A good choice. Can't go wrong with 6112's. The kit linked will only lift the front so be conservative when selecting height setting if you plan to keep the rear stock. 1" up front should bring it to level.

    drizzoh's build thread

Very nice! YES my reaction was similar to yours. No way this could be such a huge improvement but it was. Next to the re-gear, this is my favorite update. For me this opened a whole new can of worms.. Ext brake lines, and then HC cross and once I noticed how greatly improved the droop was...

    2021 Off Road

Cannot speak to brake controllers. Re-gear is expensive but a worthy investment particularly if you plan to keep your truck for a while. It is one update you can do that can actually pay for itself over time in the fuel and wear and tear you save. Based on what you are planning, I would...

    inner fender wells

I have been looking at this as an option. Not super expensive, but not cheap at just under $300 for the front pair. All I really want is to cover my fogs and limit the amount of crud getting into my stock intake once I install SSO Stage II. I don't need super high clearance with just 285's...
