• Welcome to Tacoma3G.com, a free resource for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma owners!

This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Now, if the format of this website is confusing to navigate for you, or if you're interested in my full mission and T3G's history, check out the Help and About pages.

    Colorado to Tacoma

Congrats and welcome! Sharp looking truck.

What have you done to, or with, your Tacoma today?

Used to hit Moab every spring and fall to ride the trails. My wife broke a rib on Slickrock once. I need to get back at it, been a while.

Great looking build! I really like that front bumper.

Started a new company for storage and living systems...

Thanks! I'm happy to do custom work. I really tried to male the Tacoma kit versatile but obviously everyone has different needs. Baltic Birch is nice stuff. I looked at using a few other products but BB is a great balance in durability, aesthetics and cost.

Started a new company for storage and living systems...

Hey Taco3g Folks, I wanted to share our new venture with you. We recently launched our company specializing in storage and living systems for truck based campers. We do custom work as well as vehicle specific kits. Right now the kits are available for Tacomas but we’re working on expanding...

    Howzit!

Nice! I need to move somewhere I can dive on a regular basis. Everything around here is super cold with limited vis. I dove in a retention pond and had to take four showers to get the smell out of my hair.

    New Member Trail Edition Ordered

I'm pretty sure I said the same thing at one point. Congrats on the truck! Definitely post some pictures when you get it.

    What skids do you run?

Stock. They're pretty flimsy though. A nice set of aluminum skids is definitely high on the wish list. I feel like the next hit is going to be a rough one.

What have you done to, or with, your Tacoma today?

    I can relate to this.

    Howzit!

Nice rig! Looks beautiful there. Is that a dive bag I see?

    Favorite recipes!

Damn that looks good. Might give that a try this weekend. What kind of squash do you use?

    Favorite recipes!

Hands down favorite winter recipe is Olivers Stew. Oliver’s Chicken Stew Recipe (https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/12119-olivers-chicken-stew)

    New Owner, New Ride

Congrats on the new truck! Not sure about the wheels. I would check FB marketplace around you and see what the market is like. It can be somewhat regional.

King 3.0x12" Shocks w/ Archive Shock Relocation Kit

Oh yeah, I keep forgetting its winter. Been 60 and sunny out here. Still no snow in Denver.
  17. astroflashjones

Post any photo of your Tacoma!

Nice rig! Where in CO is that?

King 3.0x12" Shocks w/ Archive Shock Relocation Kit

Thats hot. Sounds like its time to hit the dunes!
  19. astroflashjones

    It snow, Hawaii

Can you please send some of that snow our way? It still hasnt snowed in Denver yet. The mountains are white but it feels like Christmas in July down here.

    navigation

The fun part about finding trails on Gaia, there often isnt much info. Ive gotten in the habit of cross referencing tracks on trailsoffroad.com or alltrails.com. Got in over my head a couple times. You can run an ipad without cellular as long as you pair it to your Garmin. I keep low res...

    Bed stiffers

I think it might be time for me to order a set. I've been chasing my buddy on his KTM down some pretty fast trails, really starting to take a toll on the truck. Last trip out I snapped one of the bolts holding the Habitat on. That was an eye opener.

    Rear disc brake conversion

Some of the mountain passes and trails out here make me wish for better brakes.

    Air compressor mounts

I personally would skip the tank. I have the ARB single (mounted in the bed cubby) and I've been pretty happy with its performance. The tank might speed things up a bit but I'm not filling tires every day.

    Cascades Hood mount solar panels…

I wouldnt want to depend on that as an emergency booster. Knowing my luck it would be snowing. The micro-start batteries from Antigravity are pretty small, you could stash one under your seat. As far as panels go, they can be pretty sensitive to the angle of the sun, something removable is...

Been here before, but actually made a account this time 😎

Clean rig! Welcome aboard. How do you like that exhaust?

    Air compressor mounts

Are you using the compressor just to air up or running lockers as well?

Seriously Done With Runnin 4 Tacos

Seems to be a reoccurring theme with a lot of online shops these days. There were a few places Ive called to check stock and they told me their website was incorrect. For what its worth, I haven't had any problems with R4T. I order from them periodically since they are local here in Denver...

    BP-51 Ride Height Adjust

Yeah Ive heard of some shop compressors not fitting. It looks like they were able to get it adjusted though! This is the one I used: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DP2CDJU/?tag=tacoma3g-20 I think mine are set at 20mm with an ARB bumper and winch up front.

    BP-51 Ride Height Adjust

I have the BP-51s as well. Great setup once you get them dialed. When I installed them I tried to adjust the collar without compressing them, no luck. Even after you loosen the pinch bolt, theres just too much pressure from the springs. I bought a cheap spring compressor off amazon and stuck...

Wanted WTB - Swing Out Rear Bumper

I totally would but I'm hoping to find something high clearance. Might be wishful thinking at this point.

    Still hunting....

How Do You Sleep When Off-Roading?

You read correct. As some one that has had a lot of back pain, the megamat is worth it. When it comes to camping gear, there is usually a reason something is significantly cheaper. Sometimes its ok but as far as a mattress goes, I think you usually get what you pay for. If you can swing it...

    WVYTACO Build Thread

Nice looking truck! Yotashop has a kit for $23. Thats where I picked up mine. Works great, routed it into the space behind the drivers tail light.

Wanted WTB - Swing Out Rear Bumper

I'd be interested, its exactly what I'm looking for. Wouldn't mind a trip out that way either. Let me know what you decide. Interested to see what you do next with the truck!

Wanted WTB - Swing Out Rear Bumper

I know this is prob a long shot but does anyone have a swing out rear bumper they want to part with? I have a trip coming up and dont have the luxury of waiting four months. Im in Colorado but wouldn't mind a road trip. Thanks!

Recommendations from Tacoma 3G for suspension lift

Check out JBA UPCs, pretty cost effective option. I installed them with the OME BP-51 kit and it turned out pretty nice.
  38. astroflashjones

    Recovery kit

I use one of the Front Runner wolf pack boxes. Stackable and easy to hose off. In there I keep a snatch strap, tree saver, shackles, snatch block, etc. Max trax, folding shovel, highlift and tire stuff live in the truck.
  39. astroflashjones

    JBA or SPC UCAs

In installed JBAs with the OME BP-51s. Had Les Schwab do the alignment and it turned out great. Good build quality and warranty. Just make sure you have a grease gun to lube everything up. Have fun with the pinch weld on the passenger side. I used a grinder to cut one side of the bolt...
