• Welcome to Tacoma3G.com, a free resource for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma owners!

This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Now, if the format of this website is confusing to navigate for you, or if you're interested in my full mission and T3G's history, check out the Help and About pages.

    Spring Rate and Length help

I also have Fox 2.5s up front. I recently added a hybrid front bumper (no winch) and was worried I’d have too much rake since I already have more preload than is probably ideal. I have front skid, sliders, LCA skids, roof rack w/ 40” lightbar and now a 100lb bumper. I have the HD Dakar leaf pack...

New to the NE Area - Need Trusted Shop Recommendations

Hi Everyone - i'm from the Seattle area however i'll be spending the summer near Lake Placid. I'm in the market for a new bumper and am planning on going with the Lil B Hybrid bumper. I'm looking for a shop that is highly regarded / well recommended anywhere in the NE, i'm willing to drive a...

The alpha is definitely more $ than most competitors on the market, however with the work involved with installing a rack on an access cab i didn't want to settle for anything below my ideal build. No sun roof due to the small cab, so the 'fresh air' option wasn't on the table. There's...

Would highly recommend UpTOP Overland. They have two price points, Alpha and Bravo and both have built in optionality for front facing light bars and side facing rock lights. The design on their racks is top tier and the customer service is fantastic. I have the Alpha rack w/ the paint match on...

How do you make your money?(job)

I can look into it, although this is more complicated than it may initially seem. Some sellers and products probably indicate this somewhere on the page, especially ones that are proud to manufacture in the US. However in a lot of cases Amazon & third-party sellers source products both...

    12000lb winch

Rule of thumb I’ve read is vehicle weight * 1.5 = recommended winch rating. Tacoma weighs around 4K so the absolute minimum you’d want is around 6K. The more weight you have on your truck, the more dicey situations you want to be able to winch out of the higher rating you should go. I see most...

    Manual Transmission Issues??

I have a 2018 Sport MT with around 15K miles on it. Many folks have the opinion that this truck shifts a bit differently than other MTs, and the Accumulator Delete mod is a popular one for that reason. It just took me some time to get used to it but I love it at this point. However, I...

    Build direction

One thing that is worth being mindful of: planning what additional weight you're going to add to your rig (whether it's permanent or temporary) before you plan your lift is recommended. That way you'll avoid buying more beefy coils or additional leafs etc. after you load up your rig.

    Regear, or not to regear

Anyone have any thoughts on regearing on a manual transmission? I know that the manual trucks don't have nearly the same need for regearing as the automatics do. I'm interested in the idea picking up 4.88s however i'm curious to learn more about the impact they have on manual transmissions.

Which interior fuse should I tap into in order to enable an aftermarket switch’s illumination feature if I want it to illuminate with the parking lights/side markers, dimming of the head unit, lighting up of dash and climate control backlights, etc? “Tail”? I assume I also need to match the...

Very much so. Don't particularly understand why there aren't any factory threads on access cabs but so be it.

It did. Drill holes -> riv nuts -> punched small holes in rubber drip rail strip ->plenty of silicone -> fasten to the roof.

Finally got around to installing the UpTOP roof rack. The install on an access cab was challenging but it worked out okay. Super pleased with the product and the customer service is second to none. 10/10 would recommend to anyone willing to spend the coin.

    New on the Block: PNW

Hello everyone. I’ve been a member of TacomaWorld for a while and recently discovered this forum. I drive a 2018 TRD Sport V6 Access Cab in a manual transmission. Before buying this truck I had been driving an ‘01 Tacoma in the same color. This new guy is the first vehicle I’ve spent a lot of...

    Stock v Lifted

These were probably the best pre vs post shots for my truck. (1) Fox 2.5 extended travel coilovers w/ about 2.5-2.75” in front, (2) Fox 2.0 shocks, (3) OME medium duty Dakar leaf pack w/ about 2-2.5” in the rear.
