• Welcome to Tacoma3G.com, a free resource for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma owners!

This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Now, if the format of this website is confusing to navigate for you, or if you're interested in my full mission and T3G's history, check out the Help and About pages.

Dogs. We all love them, let's see them!

I love Akitas, they're walking blankets. A friend back in VA has two and whenever we would hang out, his dogs would leave him and cuddle up as close as they could to me. Absolutely adorable but also made it difficult to get off the couch to grab a beer.

30 lbs of pure trouble. I'm pretty sure she's one of those new fangled breeds.... "a fogarooacrytodhusky" (fox-kangaroo-goat-crying toddler-husky). She can leap a 6' fence without a running start, her favorite snacks while on the trail are weeds, and she'd sell me out for a belly rub and a piece...

Xbox and PS4 : inkedstiletto When I have time: Forza, cod and sometimes GTA. Thinking about picking up Need for Speed but I haven't been sold on it yet.

    Tacoma World

I'm currently healing my left hand from my husband's truck. Went under early to see if my wrench would fit his oil filter and burnt my hand on his exhaust.

    Tacoma World

This will be our second time apart (first time was 3,000 miles - which is why I'm now in the PNW and just shy of a year while we were still dating) but the first time OCONUS. I'm hoping to be able to travel over in 2021 or 2022, but it's going to take a while to get everything here in order...

Just need to vent and I know a lot of you will understand the whole ordeal of frustrating military orders. Husband is once again needs of the Navy so we just found out today that Japan will definitely be his next duty station - leaving in the next 7-12 weeks....I'll be staying stateside because...

    Dropped

From what I've been reading, it is but I'll verify before purchasing. With such a small drop, I don't see it doing any harm at the moment but if I want to go much lower, I'll have to notch the frame and probably lose my front diff.

    Leaking front bed corners

You sound like one of the "welders" I inspected. He literally added silicone to cover up the fact that the toe of his weld wasn't in compliance and hoped that I wouldn't look at it closely. He thought the silicone would prevent fuel from leaking into the next compartment

    Dropped

That's a big part of why I want to do it. I was going to lift it but then realized it would look like almost 80% of every other Tacoma in my area (WA State) and while I enjoy hiking and camping, it's not my life and I don't have the ability to go every weekend or even every few months. So rather...

    Leaking front bed corners

Any photos? Also, depending on where the slit is, would bed stiffeners be a possible viable solution to pull the sides together?

    Leaking front bed corners

@Hellrazor762 OEM Trifold or aftermarket? I've got the OEM and haven't had any issues with leaking corners except for the one time where I drove through a heavy side rain off and on for four hours from Portland. Then again, even with that leak, it was still minimal and I haven't had an issue since.

    Dropped

So I think I'm going to take the Yota in a completely different direction and drop it. Just not sure if I want to do a static drop or if I want to bite the bullet and wait to do air ride. I've been looking at this kit...

Why do y'all do this to me after Christmas and my yearly HOA dues. (Jan 1....HOA is due for the year. I hate HOAs)

    US and Canada Recovery Groups

Surprisingly enough, it's actually being hosted at the dealership where I bought my truck. One of the guys who runs their social media page is in the 3GT group on FB and he took suggestions from people and presented it to the owner and then my husband plays softball with one of the techs. I know...

    US and Canada Recovery Groups

Thank you. As people become more involved in going off road, little bits of info can make a huge difference. I'm attending a recovery and obstacle course next month lead by a 4x4 recovery and SAR group. Going to be able to test out different types of recovery gear from snatch blocks, winches, hi...

    Just another WA taco

Sucks to hear but at least you have a plan. If you make it over to the PNW, get out and stretch your legs with some gorgeous hikes.

    US and Canada Recovery Groups

As some of y'all know, I'm with a few different Toyota Groups and we currently have been focusing on recovery and safety when riding. I've slowly been working on a Google doc that covers both the United States and Canada with different recovery/rescue 4x4 groups. I'd like to share what I've...

    Just another WA taco

Might I suggest the scented markers. Better flavors, longer lasting, and the caps are great for portion control. How long have you been on the civilian side now? I tried for a few years and even had a cushy corporate job with the corner cubical and window views but I missed being able to tell...

What do T3G members look like?

We've both got a backseat hammock which contains a lot of the fur but I love to ride with my windows down so during her blowouts, I'm riding in a fur tornado. This summer I'm thinking about thinking about building a thin hard-shell platform and removing the plastic storage bins behind the back...

    Light Trails around Seattle

McCellan Butte OHV is most likely your closest. It's about 8 miles long but has some nice views along the way. Depending on the rain, the puddles can be minimal to fun to drive through. Although heavy rains can make a few spots slick. There's a mild rocky area on the path but overall it's a...

What do T3G members look like?

Husband has a Ram, I have the Taco and the pup sheds in both. We're a Navy family, he's got 14 in (and hopefully making Senior or picking up Warrant soon) and I did 8 years.

No major plans until it's paid off. Since the husband is still Active and I'm out, I don't want any major debts if we have to move again and I go back on the job hunt. So for now, I just look at everyone's builds and dream ?

    Just another WA taco

I've owned my Taco for almost a year and a half, coming up on 30k miles. I'm mostly all stock, upgraded my tires a few months ago and did some minor cosmetic and comfort features but usually my Tacoma is hauling myself and the pup to trailheads, my paddleboard and soon my new kayak (once I...

    Diff breather mod

The special silver breather that you're referring too is the same breather that's already on the front diff. An open element filter could be possible to use as long as it is not a one way breather. (most are, so just be wary). Honestly, though it would be best to use the same breather that the...

Tutorial Getting patches to stick on ceiling

I use quilting "T" pins or add additional Velcro with the T pins for large/unusual shaped patches. That way, it's still removable and helps prevent sagging from extreme cold/heat.
