• Welcome to Tacoma3G.com, a free resource for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma owners!

This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Now, if the format of this website is confusing to navigate for you, or if you're interested in my full mission and T3G's history, check out the Help and About pages.

Thinking pedal commander? Watch this before you buy

So with this installed, is there little to no use for the ECT button? I tow a boat with my Taco so I'm wondering how'd it perform with the PC installed?

LCA skids compatible with TRD Pro front skid plate

Aloha, just as the title states, some of the companies I’ve searched (Cbi, rci, Victory 4x4) all require cutting of the trd pro front skid. Anyone knows of a company that makes lca skids compatible with the trd pro skid?

Yes, still running the sway bar. Not sure if I want to remove it (just yet).

    Kings 2.5 with adjusters

Right, I understand every Tacoma's setup will vary. I'm running the 650# coils and as far as extra weight added (besides the wheels/tires), I have sliders, front skid plate and bed racks so not a whole lot. For pavement, I just have it cranked all the way to the softest setting (as I don't...

    Kings 2.5 with adjusters

Hey guys, just had some Kings 2.5 ext travel with comp adjusters installed few weeks back and had a question... For pavement/daily driving, should the adjuster be dialed all the way to the softest setting? And as for off roading (Oahu, Hawaii), how many clicks (on average) should I dial it...

    Lower ball joints (grease exposed)

What's up guys, Any of you with lift-kits noticed your lower ball joints may have grease exposed at the rubber boots? Just noticed it on mines and not sure if I should be super concerned about it? I have a 3" lift FYI.

What's in your bed /controlling your cargo?

Like most have mentioned here, the rubber bed mat is great for things not to slide around. Bungee cords and ratchet straps come in handy too, especially with bed racks.

    Gear swap suggestions

I would suggest the same (5.29s). If you weren't installing armor and bumpers, you'd be fine with 4.88s. The RPMs at freeway speeds aren't a huge difference from what I've been told.

    Gear swap suggestions

They are both good reputable brands. Yukon have been around for a very long time. No issues at all. Make sure you have them installed at a reputable shop.

    Gear swap suggestions

If you're putting armor, front and rear bumpers, I'd say go with 5.29s. I have Yukon 4.88s with 34's but only have sliders.

    Towing with a 3G Tacoma.

Short answer is Yes, it can. But it’s cutting it close. Depending on how often, how far and if there’s any inclines, I’d consider regearing.

    Towing with a 3G Tacoma.

Aloha, you mentioned 4.88 gears in your video... Since you’ve installed them, have they helped out quite a bit especially with towing?

    Towing with a 3G Tacoma.

I tow a 19' whaler / dual axle trailer with electric brakes (combined weight close to 3,300 lbs - ice, gear and dead fish excluded) and you can definitely tell there's something behind the truck. On flat roads, she tows fine but on the inclines is where I feel it struggle a bit. I'm not...
