• Welcome to Tacoma3G.com, a free resource for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma owners!

This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Now, if the format of this website is confusing to navigate for you, or if you're interested in my full mission and T3G's history, check out the Help and About pages.

    brake controller harness

They fit pretty snug, as long as they’re the same shape though perhaps. I can get a hold of an ‘11 over the weekend I can try them on it.

ok, what the heck is a Oil Separator?

There is a benefit on some direct injection (DI) engines. Since there is no fuel from a traditional injector to wash the backside of the intake valve in a direct injection motor, oil vapor builds up as carbon in the inlet path. Left alone for long enough this will cause poor performance and hard...

I have about a 3” lift and 285/75R16. All is well with that combination for me. Had that setup for about 2 years now.

P0348 – Camshaft position (CMP) sensor A, bank 2 -high input

    1. around my area a typical dealer rate would be $110-160/hr 2. It may be possible, I can’t say for certain since I haven’t tried it. However. Most dealerships (and independent shops) run on flat rate. That is to say if Toyota motors says in their procedure book that to replace a cam sensor...

    Race Car

Have you looked at vwvortex.com? That’s a huge VW forum. That has the 2.5L? Integrated Engineering has a nice kit for those. They claim 40hp and 12lb-ft.

Do you wave at other tacomas?

I raise a peace sign when I drive passed a modified one (and old VWs, but no one gets it since I'm in a Tacoma). There's a couple of Tacomas around my area that reciprocate.

Help with stock trailer plug wireing

Does the 7-pin plug have the same issue? I haven't looked at the wiring myself. I'd imagine a light issue on the 4-pin would be common with the 7-pin. If the 7-pin is good though, buy a 7-pin to 4-pin adapter so you can take the trailer this weekend without having to fix it right away.

    OME/Eibach springs on 5100's question

I just ordered 2885s from wheelers. Josh there told me they put them together all the time. Other forum folks say that you can't preload them. My thought is that OME is doing just that by increasing the length of the spring (ex. 2888) without changing shock length. I'll try out the 2885 on the 0...

    OME/Eibach springs on 5100's question

I've got 5100's and I was leaning toward the 2886's but I'm open to the Eibach's if the updated OME springs are different

    OME/Eibach springs on 5100's question

OME states in their application sheet that their springs will only fit their own shocks. Toytec also states this on the product page. Eibach also states this. However, a note one their page states that "Extended travel shocks are required" but also "Must be used with Eibach Pro-Truck shocks"...

    M1008 CUCV starter help

Is it a remote mount solenoid? Next I'd ohm out the starter control wire to the battery positive lead. If O/L I'd be double checking wire connections on the starter. If there is continuity, look for shorts in the harness or ign switch condition.

Recall Latest TSB Update (Fixed Shifting)

Had mine done several weeks ago now. Absolutely zero change in drivability. Except that, the Sport shift feature sort of works now. Before you could select a gear and after 5 seconds it would change on its own with no change in speed or load. Now it will at least stay in the selected gear until...

Cameras. What do you shoot shit with?

Can't swear by any point-and-shoot as all I have are SLRs but I've heard nothing but good stuff about the Alphas. That one specs nice. Never ceases to amaze me how much that can pack into those cameras. Makes my Nikon D7000 seem like a dinosaur.

    Preferred off road communication radios?

Well I know very little about radio comms but I will be doing CB when my headache bar/antenna mount comes back from powdercoat. So far my plan is a cheapskate Uniden PRO510XL and a 3ft fire stick mounted on the front of the bed. I'm going with CB since the local rock quarries operate on CB as...

Tinted Windows On Taco, What % You Have?

Has anyone heard of sunroofs exploding on tacomas? The tint shop I'm going to now makes you sign a waiver if they tint the sunroof. I've seen sunroofs pop on newer VW passats, but that issue was due to automatic car washes, not tint.

    Brake controller

I have mine on the bottom of the dash. Haven't hit it yet, I'm 6'4" and wear work boots every day. Only thing I don't like about the location is that it's difficult to see the readout on the controller in that location.

Tutorial Debadge emblems w/ shoe spray

Only thing I would add to this is that if you have dark paint. When you are peeling the plastic badge off of the paint, do not allow a corner of the badge to touch the paint. If the paint is hot and you let the badge dig into the paint it will leave a dent in the paint that will be visible...

    Hobbies besides Tacos...

Cars and construction. Building a cabin (and prepping another spot for a proper house) on my property has been using up all my hobby funds. Which means the '69 Datsun SPL311, '71 VW Beetle, and '49 Ford 8N are all sitting in my shop going nowhere.
