• Welcome to Tacoma3G.com, a free resource for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma owners!

This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Now, if the format of this website is confusing to navigate for you, or if you're interested in my full mission and T3G's history, check out the Help and About pages.

Does your truck do work? Let's see it.

Montana elk hunt last fall with one other guy. Yeah we're slightly over gvw here, the truck did great considering. Dakar HD's are on the to-do list before my two elk hunts this year.

What year and how many miles?

16 with 52k from hunting and fishing trips. Should be well over 70k by the end of the year.

Recall Latest TSB Update (Fixed Shifting)

Finally got my 2016 MT done yesterday. The more I drive the more I notice the difference. The overall throttle curve feels unchanged but the instantaneous delivery is smoother, especially in first and second gears.

    Northeast Taco Gen3 gas mileage??

Considering that you (I assume) are also getting winter weather, you're doing better than I am (stock OR MT with 26570/17 BFG's and a topper). Lately it's been 17-17.5mpg. In the summer I can add about 2mpg.

    Engine light

Disconnecting the battery for like 30 seconds (less actually) will clear the check engine light. I have to do it frequently due to my aftermarket stereo system.

    Elk Camp

It wasn't bad - on the whole - but the following morning the little creek behind camp froze pretty hard.

    Elk Camp

Just for the day as it snowed all morning. Just a top layer of grease formed that dried out the next day.

    Elk Camp

..as in stuck in camp 'cause KO2's aren't the best in mud. Oh well, it turned out fine since my hunting partner killed a bull on this day.

    Road Trip!

Looks like a great trip, hope your weather holds. For this route, I'm partial to the hiking in the Tetons, the tourists should not be so bad this late. Breakfasts in Jackson are Cafe Genevieve or the Bunnery or Persephone Bakery. Snake River Brewing is a safe bet if you like beer and decent...

Reference Dealers/Service Writers/Techs you trust and recommend (or don’t).

Dealership name: Walser Toyota City, State: Bloomington, MN Phone number: 952-400-2920 Service writer name: Tech name: Why you recommend them? I've purchased two vehicles from Walser (2011 Tundra before my current rig) and have had no issues with them for sales or service. They don't...

    Guns 'n Tacos

Yeah, the "worst" situations make the best stories. This hunt was solo, five weeks out of knee surgery. Keeping my mental shit together was not trivial, compounded by the weather conditions. Found this pic from the same hunt, I think it qualifies for this thread since the gun case is visible. ;)

Reference Ask a beginner question, get a serious answer!

This sounds pretty familiar, thanks for the reply. I figured with all the folks on here from AZ and CA that someone else would experience something similar.

Reference Ask a beginner question, get a serious answer!

Ok, here's a new question that I couldn't find elsewhere.... Anyone else have issues with the A/C? On a hot day (over 90F) it blows decidedly less well when I'm on the highway and the engine is working compared to idle or lower speeds/downhill (it's really flat here in MN so not much of that)...
  27. tacostand1970

    Guns 'n Tacos

Snow, it just wouldn't stop on that trip. Half a mule deer is in the pack. After five days of hunting through that storm I wanted off that mountain!

I'm running 265/70/17 KO2's (C) on a stock TRD OR and am very happy with them if that helps any.

  37. tacostand1970

    Hi all!

Happy owner of a 2 year old Tacoma, new to the site (yeah it looks pretty nice here!) but not to the brand. Came from a 2011 Tundra (yes I miss that engine) and two gen 1's prior to that (1997 and 2001). The truck is a mostly stock Off Road MT with BFG's, 4Runner wheels, topper and a JL Audio...
