• Welcome to Tacoma3G.com, a free resource for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma owners!

This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Now, if the format of this website is confusing to navigate for you, or if you're interested in my full mission and T3G's history, check out the Help and About pages.

I guess this is my introduction from Wisconsin. First I'd like to thank those that start forums such as these, as I have been in many throughout the years and vehicles I've owned.

We recently purchased a Cement Tacoma Sport double cab 4x4. This is our first Tacoma, first Toyota and first truck purchase. With currently 150 miles on the odometer we are really happy with our decision, and forums such as these helped guide us to it.

Our intention with the truck is not to make a capable off road vehicle, but to have a reliable transport vehicle for our enclosed trailer hauling our motorcycle to unseen (by us) locations. We intend to equip the truck with a rack, a CVT or iKamper tent and possibly some convenient camping accessories.

With only about 10 days of ownership we have already added some convenience items I found necessary. The first is hood struts as I was shocked at the weight of the hood.

We went with Spiker Engineering set-up based on reviews and their MADE IN AMERICA status.

The other mod we did was in anticipation of a bed cover, this is the bed lights from Toyota.

I think this will do for now, but we will see where things go and our open to suggestions.

Thanks again in advance.

I felt that the install went well. I am not a fan of drilling holes in new sheet metal, but I treated the cuts inside and out so it is not much of a concern. It makes a dramatic difference in opening g the hood. Pop it, swing the latch and with a little nudge.....viola' open.
