KP’s dirt bike hauler

Replaced my 2002 Tundra with a new Tacoma and will use for M/C hauling.
That was till I went 4 wheeling and discovered how well it works off road. Just as capable as my Jeep but waaaay less tiring to drive. I can foresee less riding and more 4 wheeling.
Here is the truck box stock as delivered.

These trucks are very capable off road for what they are. I agree with you there, came from Jeeps. Much easier to drive long distance lol

Off roading the truck is good to go but I didn’t see anywhere to use a hi-lift jack with the plastic bumpers. So my first mods were a floor jack and shovel. I can use my m/c ramp for a traction board too.
I made up a J hook to bolt the jack to the bed cleat and keep it from rolling around. Also welded a socket on the jack to slip in an extension to Increase its reach.

Welcome to the forum, congrats on your new truck, and great choice on the longbed (albeit, it is for your toys, so it makes sense).

To be honest, hi-lift jacks have their time and place, but you can almost always get away with a small bottle jack and a block (designed for a bottle jack) to compensate for the height of a lifted truck. They're safer, can still lift the lifted trucks, and are easier to pack into your truck. I feel like hi-lift jacks are very situational and mostly just look cool on the truck more than they get used.

I like your comparison to your Jeep. I have a Jeep too and I couldn't agree more; the Tacoma is like driving a Mercedes in comparison.

I’ve used a bottle jack before and was glad to have it, but going forward I wanna jack with a big long handle so I don’t have to crawl under (again)

And damn, that doesn’t look comfortable at all.

I added a bed cover that folds up against the cab but I can’t mash m/c tires against it
(what kinda hauler is that?) so I fabbed up a bed rail.
‘There are some nice rails available $$ but they are meant to mount the front of the bed and I needed it mounted about 8” back to stay off the cover.
I used 1.5” tube and 2.5”x 1/8” flat stock to attach to the bed rails with 4 tee nuts.
It’s work in progress as I want to add cleats and tie down points when I figger out the layout
