Looking to switch out my all season tires w/OEM mag rims/TPMS sensors to a used set of winter tires mounted on Tacoma steel rims w/o TPMS. Not planning to install new TPMS to winter tire set and have not bought tire/rim set yet.
1. Will the TPMS lite in dash blink continuously when vehicle is operated ? I like to avoid putting a piece of tape over blinking lite as a remedial fix.
2. Is there a go around aka like 4th gen 4R where by jumping a couple of wires in the TPMS ECU behind glove box, the dash light is bypassed ? I did this procedure on my '05 4R and tossed all sensors out when their batteries died.
Past experiences and suggestions are welcome.

I have not run without sensors myself, but this is my understanding of what I have seen from others.

1. The TPMS light will blink for about a minute and then it will turn on solid.
2. I do not think anyone has found a work around other than putting a piece of tape over the light or running with the light on until it burns out. I would think it might be possible to find something like what you did on 4R but I do not know of anyone who has tracked something like this down yet.

Maybe someone else knows of something. I hope anther member will have additional information for you.

Went on 2nd gen Taco forum and found a handful of posts from its members ( all 2nd gen owners) who were sucessful in bypassing 1. the TPMS ecu & lite 2. just the lite. For the 1st option the TPMS ecu is behind dash at driver side and to bypass lite, jumper a couple of blue colored wires behind glove box passenger side. Apparently there are two ways to disable just the lite, depending on production year.
I'll wait till warmer weather comes around ( spring/summer ) before I go ' hunting'. With luck I may not be the first to attempt this 3rd gen mod.
