2️⃣ Bronze
Bought a Tacoma used
Has aftermarket led front and back
Everything was fine for months and now I started getting hyper flash out of the blue, seems like its just one side or the other but when this occurs the dash and rear lights hyper flash but my fronts won’t even flash…..
Can’t really see it being a resistor issue as they’ve been fine till now… all wiring and grounds are good…. I got power to the headlight led strip for the flasher….
Any ideas???

What trim level is your truck? Does it use the turn signal as a drl and does it have full aftermarket housings or just bulb swaps?

2016 sr5
Full housing, the top putter rim has a white led strip that’s always working fine turn signal switches it from white to orange that’s like a 3 stage motion light….
I bought this truck used with a lot of aftermarket parts and I don’t know who the previous owner is, so I can’t even ask questions…. Just odd as it was fine for the last few months and now it just started acting up and it’s extremely random on when (more often now) and which side decides to do so…

Hmm based on the photo, unsure what those headlights are, but I would guess it's due to something internal with them. Not to be rude, but they look pretty low end and the low end tech does not work as well with all the functions. These trucks are pretty sensitive to voltage changes in the turn signals, especially if the tails are led as well. Experiment with having the lights setup in different ways to see if you can isolate when the hyperflash happens (headlighs on/off) and or if it takes x amount of blinks before it starts. I was hoping it would be a quick bulb swap, but doesn't look like that is the case. You might be able to fix it with inline resistors, but my recommendation would be to upgrade the housings to the new Morimoto Evo's (though I'm slightly bias about those) for an overall upgrade in function, output and looks. They're really built with oem quality and are the only headlights on the market brighter than the ugly factory led option these trucks had available (with supercharger upgrade).

Yeah 10-4, I’ve done all the basic things, doesn’t seem to matter if everything’s on or off, doesn’t seem like a power issue everything’s got the voltage.
No offence taken! They likely are, as I’ve discovered quite a few low end additions, certain things done “half a$$”
Through all the research I’ve done, most issues were different than mine. They’d all be out, or both front and back would hyperflash, just seems like this one’s an odd ball with how it suddenly happened out of the blue, at first just the one side out for a few days than magically started working again, than suddenly the other other side… normally it’s just be one catastrophic failed or the other sometimes around the same, but not within a day of each other… and how sometimes they both still just work fine….. I’ll keep checking and digging I’m pretty decent with all types of machinery and vehicles, just new to owning a Toyota, figured someone may have had, even with the minor issues I’ve had since buying…. Im loving it….just not looking forward to buying new headlights at the moment 🤦

I’ll be posting a few other issues or questions in the near future… thanks for your time!

Good luck with it dude. They are definitely not without their quirks from the factory, and who knows what needs to be tended to after a previous owner bolted on not all the highest end components. The trucks are definitely worth sorting out though, because when you do it right they are just really nice to be in.

Sounds like a flaky relay or controller, might be worth checking if something’s starting to fail internally.
If it were a relay would it just single out the fronts? Or I guess I’m asking is there a separate relay for the front to rear?
I initially figured it’s something internally as well but the 4 way works fine, unless it’s something about the sequential part…. Frustrating…. New headlights ain’t cheap either…..
