• Welcome to Tacoma3G.com, a free resource for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma owners!

This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Now, if the format of this website is confusing to navigate for you, or if you're interested in my full mission and T3G's history, check out the Help and About pages.

I picked up my 2017 Sport in January of '20. I had the front windows tinted to match the rears, updated the stock speakers, and added front/rear dash cams. Then I talked to the team at Affordable Offroad in Shamokin, PA and they mentioned wanting to prototype some 3rd gen Tacoma parts (Affordable Offroad 3rd Gen Tacoma Bumpers). I lent them my truck and they gave me a discount on the front/rear bumpers.

I picked up a Warn VR Evo winch with synth line right away and had Affordable install it while they were mocking up the bumper. Less to worry about later on.

The rear bumper is solid and simple. Nothing wrong with that. I am really happy with how it came out.

They also mounted and balanced my duratracs on the 17" pro comp wheels. I went back and forth between 17's and dropping to 16's (surprisingly cheaper, I didn't realize that) but figured it already had the 17's when I got it so might as well keep it the same.

I have a 1" spacer up front and nothing in the rear at right now. I just ordered an Add-A-Leaf pack and Bilsteins for the rear to get it back to being even. Until I get them installed it looks like I'm hauling bags on concrete back there haha.

What's next? Maybe nothing. I'm not really sure. I have a different toy for off road fun so this might stay as is. I'm debating going to 4.88 gears just to make the drive more fun.

Nice truck!

If you're thinking about 4.88s there's a group buy right now in the case that you need something to sway your decision.

BLACK FRIDAY PRICING WITHOUT THE WAIT! Get ahead of the pack and get your kit today! These kits are complete install kits. Just need to drop your Tacoma off and you will be driving it the way it should of came from the factory! Here is our recommendations for what gearing to get!

4.88 Gearing Recommendations - We recommend 4.88 gearing for stock vehicles or lifted vehicles with tires up to 33". If you have more than 400lbs of additional weight, or tow often and are running 33" tires, you will better off going with 5.29 gearing for hill climbs to avoid gearing searching.

5.29 Gearing Recommendations - We recommend 5.29 gearing for stock vehicles or lifted vehicles with tires 33" or Larger. If you carry more than 400lbs of additional weight or tow often, we recommend running these gears with even 33" tires. 34" or 35" tires, this gearing ratio is the optimal gearing needed to avoid gear searching and the dreaded hill climbing with lack of power! This upgrade will truly wake up your Tacoma and take it to the next level!

Magnuson Supercharged Tacoma's. We have found that with 5.29 gearing, the supercharger is at its optimal performance.

Thank you! I really appreciate that. And thank you for the info on the 4.88's. I'm going to call around today for a local shop to do the install (Re-gearing is above my pay grade). If anyone local will do the install and is ok with my bringing my own parts I will 100% jump on the 4.88 group buy. It never occurred to me to check the group buys before. Thanks for the tip on that.
