• Welcome to Tacoma3G.com, a free resource for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma owners!

This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Now, if the format of this website is confusing to navigate for you, or if you're interested in my full mission and T3G's history, check out the Help and About pages.

Hey Everyone, my name is Andrew- and I am in\from San Diego CA.

I became a Tacoma owner in 1997. I bought a new 1997, white, LX 5 lug. It was so base model- they had to add air-conditioning at the dealer! She was so tiny so I quickly got modding with a Fabtech lift and rear shackles. Total Chaos hadn't released their kits yet so I was kind of stuck with the Fabtech lift, which really wasn't much more than a spring that was too big for the truck so it just maxed out the spring rate and gave it a few inches of lift. It rode like CRAP but it lifted it so I was happy. I bought some Fabtech spindles and that gave me a few more inches.....(in height)..... When the TC kit had been out for a bit, I jumped in. SOO much better. Better ride, travel, everything. The only downside was the camber was basically set so negative that I blew through front tires in less than 6 months. I took my truck to our shop and we custom installed heims on the UCA before TC even offered it on their kits! Throughout the years, the truck has changed a lot. As it sits now, it’s got the custom TC LT kit, spindles and long travel rear springs. Fiberglass front and back and tons of mods installed and removed and then installed again!

A week ago, I bought a 2020 TRD Offroad 4x4 in Super White. She had almost everything I wanted from the factory- the new LED headlights, blacked out badges and they are installing leather probably next week. We put a small Bilstein lift and some Method wheels/Toyo tires because it’s what I had quick access to.. I couldn't go a day with it being "stock".. haha

The plan for the new truck is making it more of a camping/traditional off-roading truck. I am torn between going TC again or Camburg or maybe even Dirt King components. I do like the fact that Dirt King is in SD, but I have had amazing luck with TC. I have Fox shocks all the way around on my ’97 but was considering King this time. I will probably hit up Fiberwerx again and get the fenders and bedsides in carbon fiber.

Anyone have any thoughts on what brand I should go with for suspension?

Anyway, I just wanted to say hi and I look forward to being a part of this community!

P.S. - There is one pic with the front corner light missing- that was right after I finished wrapping the truck in my driveway..
