Morimoto X3B10 3rd Brake Light

Why they do this now? Wanted to upgrade the TBL since I swapped all the other stuff to Morimoto. But they launch this late when I don't even like the truck anymore. Kind of looks tacky. Who's gonna get one and tell me how the install is? I already removed my headliner once.

I've bought 2 third brake lights for my 2017 TRD OR, none of them fit, is it cause I have an off road? Cause the ones I saw these on usually go on newer Tacomas and sport trims.. Will this Morimoto fit my 2017 OR?

Too bulky for me. The stock offering looks the best IMO.

The new one MESO is working on that takes the Baja Designs S2's looks pretty nice. Probably a beast to wire up though.

Yes. This one's for the 3rd Gen. There were only like 4-5 options available before this one that I know of. MESO has the BD Rocklight one with different configurations. Then there was EVIL Manufacturing/Dirt Kartel that used a metal body with S2 light. They might actually be the same company that got rebranded. Then there's the Chinese one. The clown ass one from Taco Clout.
It's odd some say they're 2nd and 3rd gen specific. Other's just say 05+. Which I'd assume it's 05-15.

The one I got is from TacomaLifeStyle... It was too large and they did a replacement video on a 3rd gen

It's because you have an access cab. The access cab 3rd gens have the same 3-bulb red third brake light that the 2nd gens all had. The double cab 3rd gens have a clear LED 3rd brake. The only downside to the stock one on the double cabs is that the clear looks kind of plain and the light output is really not bright at all.

If I wanted to upgrade my third brake light, I'd buy another factory one and attempt to solder in brighter red and white diodes. I also do wish mine was red. I'd personally prefer to have the access cab version and just put in brighter red 194 LED bulbs from VLEDS.

If you want the Morimoto, you need to buy the one for 05-15.

There are two third brake light types:

• 05-15 all cabs & 16+ Access Cab (factory 3-bulb 194 red housing)
• 16+ double cab (factory all-LED clear housing)

Physically they are not the same, there are actually differences in the cabs. So you have to stick with your cab type and year.

Morimoto makes a 3BL for each, they are slightly different from each other in appearance but they are the same performance. 3rd gen owners have to choose either the 2nd gen model for their access cab or the third gen model for their double cab. Morimoto could word it better.

Personally I think the Morimoto is ugly AF. I want a quality company to make a housing that looks identical to factory but with increased performance. The only thing I would change from stock appearance would be if the housing were red. Personally I think the clear is ugly and plain. Would much rather it be red, and have much brighter internals. But until that exists, I'm not touching it because risking screwing up the seal is not worth it until the perfect option exists on the market for me, if ever.
