So COVID screwed up my guiding season this year. With no hunts to guide in Alaska I figured I'd take my other two loves and get into some trouble. We put 4k miles on the truck. Left from Ohio straight for Moab. Had to take a detour due to I-70 being shutdown due to wildfire. But the drive didnt disappoint.

We opted for the quieter trails outside of town rather than the side by side mayhem near sand flats.

The driving was beautiful. We only averaged 6mph the who time. We were loaded heavy and the rear bottomed out more than I care for. Any suggestions on HD bump stops? I'm running dakars and definitely need the extra spring leaf and stops. Over 700lb of added weight.
We are definitely going back. Had to call our last day due to issues with valve cores. The tire shop at home insisted I needed balance bags. The cores sucked up the medium and wouldnt let the valve close so they kept pissing air. I changed one on the trail and tightened a sealer cap on the other. Too risky so we ran hard back to town and had the tire shop pull the tires and rebalance. If you need good service in a pinch in Moab head to Tire Pros. Those folks are amazing.

After Moab we took a drive 3 hrs to Ouray. I had been in that area some 20 years ago back in my ski bum days and had done a trail.

Things have definitely changed. Way more trail traffic and the rise in side by side popularity has turned some trails into unrecognizable war zones. Seriously, it was sad. Where once there was a defined trail, Imogene Pass is now a zig zag of side trails made by UTV traffic with a heavy throttle. The East side being the worst. We had a blast tho. Camping, cooking, and just being away together.
