• Welcome to Tacoma3G.com, a free resource for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma owners!

This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Now, if the format of this website is confusing to navigate for you, or if you're interested in my full mission and T3G's history, check out the Help and About pages.

Please read this entire post as the submission and voting system has changed.

May RotM is introduces two new systems: Early submissions with a separate voting thread, and themed months! Please read this entire post to understand how these systems will work. This month, RotM is sponsored by @Victory4x4, who were kind enough to offer one of their center console MOLLE panel kits (sold in pairs; one for D/S and P/S). Tell your friends. ;)

Without further ado, let's get right into it!

Themed month: "Stock" trucks
All trucks must appear stock! For RotM purposes, "stock" is defined as:
  • Wheels must be stock
  • Bumpers must be stock, but a hidden winch is allowed
  • Tires can be aftermarket, up to ~33" in size
  • Truck must not have more than ~2" of lift
  • Truck must have stock paint, but decals are allowed
  • Rock sliders are allowed
  • Roof racks and bed racks are allowed
  • A regular bed cap is allowed, but no pop-up camper shells
  • Grille can be aftermarket, windows can be tinted, badges can be black or removed
  • Off-road lights are allowed
  • Any modification that can't be seen is allowed (regear, interior, OVTune, etc.)
  • Trucks that are heavily modified today may still be submitted with an older photo that follows the above guidelines
How does it work?
  • From the 10th to the 15th of this month, you can post one of your best photos of your truck to this thread, which will become your submission.
  • You can "like" the photos in this thread if you want to, but they will not count as votes; this is only the submission thread.
  • On the 15th of this month, I will create a voting thread which will have all of the submitted photos in it, and voting will commence.
  • On the 20th of the month, the voting thread will close and go into a review phase.
  • During the review phase, I will go through each submission, noting how many votes they received, and I will verify that the user with the most amount of votes is eligible to win according to the rules in this thread.
  • In the event the user who submitted the photo with the most votes is not eligible, I will move to the runner up, and so on.
  • In the event that there are multiple submissions with the same amount of votes at the end of the voting period, I will create a new thread with only those submissions in it, and voting will begin again for three days. If a tie-breaker is needed a second time, a random winner will be chosen via a random number generator.
What does the winner receive?
  • One center console MOLLE panel kit from @Victory4x4 (https://www.victory4x4.com/product/VTCC.html)
  • One T3G patch
  • One T3G sticker
  • A photo of your truck in the sidebar of the forum for the duration of the following month (same location you see the forum statistics block)
  • A badge under your username in your posts stating that you are a RotM winner (same location you see "Badministrator" in my posts)
Submission Rules
  1. YOU MUST HAVE AT LEAST 10 POSTS ON YOUR ACCOUNT TO SUBMIT A PHOTO! (If you're unable to reply to this thread, it's because you don't have the ten posts yet.) However, if you are a "T3G Supporter" (purchased a patch or sticker previously), you may bypass the minimum post count restriction.
  2. The forum administrators (myself and @Mr. Nobody) and our official vendors are not eligible to enter this contest. However, our forum moderators are eligible. Forum moderators are volunteers and are no different than regular members aside from the fact that they have the ability to close and move threads.
  3. If you have won this contest previously, you are not eligible to enter again until the sixth month after the last time you won. (e.g. If you won in January, you may not enter again until July.)
  4. Please submit photos that are of high quality and not edited in Photoshop to add a fake background, text, or other graphics to the image. However, you may edit your photo to adjust lighting, color, shadows, etc.
  5. You may only submit one photo per month and you will not be able to change the photo you submitted it after it is posted. You may post a different photo in a different month.
  6. Adding a link to your build thread, if you have one, is highly encouraged, but not required.

Once you have read everything above, PLEASE "LIKE" THIS POST SO I KNOW YOU READ IT, and you may submit your photo. Good luck and have fun!

My truck got SMACKED by a 40-ton crane on 4-17-20 and then got a TOTAL makeover and was ready for me in 13 days total. All before it’s first oil change.. Just trying to follow in @Tyler’s footsteps. This is my truck yesterday after getting my sliders installed! This is still considered stock, right? Haha
Quick shout out to Canyon Paint & Body in Brea, CA for the repairs!

Oh no! I know how you feel. :(

Sliders would still be considered stock. The bed rack is supposed to be considered not stock, but your truck does look hella stock, so I'm going to ask everyone here: Should exceptions be made? Should I remove the bed rack rule?

Haha yeah other than the rack and sliders there’s just little mods here and there. No worries if I don’t qualify but be safe out there people! Don’t unload a 40-ton crane by someone else’s brand new Tacoma!

I don’t see an issue with having a bed rack. I vote to remove the bed rack rule.

Removed that and roof racks.

If there is a roof top tent and overland gear, would that give those trucks an unfair advantage?

This is a "mostly stock" photo contest now :) I would have figured a mostly stock truck or with oem upgrades like a bed cover or something else a dealer may upsell you on. That said, I think we all know what those look like at which point this contest might just reveal our collective favorite color and dealer trim package. By allowing mostly stock but with some modifications (no overlanding, tents, big mods) I think it gives the category a bit more diversity. "Close enough to stock" cool with me :D

I feel like a bed rack is fine as long as it's not decked out with maxtrax, rotopax, etc.
I think having a fully accessorized bed rack is too much an advantage. Just my two cents!

This is what I agree with.

Guessing this doesnt count but worth a shot. Never got a photo of my truck stock. Wheels and tires and bed rack transferred over to new truck same day (1st photo) added 5100s in the next day or so due to rubbing (2nd photo) but dealer plates count right!? Haha
