I've been lurking around and going through everyone else's sweet ass build threads today, and it finally motivated me to post some pics of the progress I've made with my truck.

I'll start with what I was coming from... I had an '02 Dodge 2500 Cummins. It was built up pretty well, laid down 530hp on the dyno, but it ate transmissions like no other. I'm talking built trannies too, not stock. Finally I started realizing that I really wanted to get into offroading and camping, but a full size 3/4 ton diesel truck is just too big and heavy for the majority of wheeling I was looking to do.

My wife and I had recently bought her a 4Runner TRD Pro, (which I was slightly jealous of lol, it is badass) so this definitely put Toyota on my map. Then a couple of buddies of mine ended up getting 3rd Gen Tacomas, and I knew i had to have one. Thus started my search for my truck.

I picked my truck up in April of 2017 from a dealership in Raleigh, NC.

I was able to pick up the SSO slimline off of a guy not too far away from me, It came with the Smittybilt XRC9.5. I was happy to get a pretty decent deal on it.

Next came suspension. I had originally wanted the TRD Pro, but of course after doing loads of research I knew I was going to be ripping all of the suspension out for better stuff anyway. I initially settled on an Icon Stage 3 Kit.

Not long after the suspension was in I picked up rims and tires...

One of the last trips I took in North Carolina was up to Asheville. My wife and I toured the Biltmore for a day, then headed over to Brown mountain and hit some trails, did some camping, and had a great time.

I ended up getting stationed out in California, which initially I wasn't thrilled about (due to the ridiculous gun laws) But it does have it's benefits. Some of the trails I was able to hit were pretty awesome.

My phone doesn't do these views justice... I need to invest in a decent camera.
