If you start going down that path of lieing or low-balling....what else are you gonna do in the future. Just my 2 cents.

I frame it as my truck is my hobby (expensive and I don’t have that many mods yet) but it’s my me-time and my wife respects that.

If she doesn't ask, then i keep it to myself! If she asks then i tell her after she has had a nice glass or 2 of her favorite Wine ( I keep on hand just for these special occasions)o_O
Hahaha! I’ve got my stash of my wife’s fav alcohol too!!!!!

for the most part we have been a team in building both our trucks, that being said we have never really discussed the cost of my King Suspension. She never asked how much, I and i never really put a number on it.

My wife is our accountant. I can't sneak a $20 bottle of booze into the shopping cart without her knowing.

That being said, I do keep my own separate cash stash for toys. Anything I sell or earn as a result of my truck/guns/cigars/etc. stays in that stash permanently unless there's some kind of emergency where I need to spring a little extra cash for something unrelated. In general, I do pretty well. When it's something crazy expensive like almost $5k in suspension and tires, then obviously I need to go plead my case to the boss.

I’ll say a part is a little cheaper than it actually is, until I buy it then she sees how much it actually is lol. But she already caught on to the pattern since we’ve been together forever. So she knows what’s up already.

My truck is my mid life crisis car. She gets it. She asked me one day how much I had spent on it so far, and I said "not as much as I could".

But we hold separate accounts. The bills get paid, credit cards are zeroed every month, and the only note I'm paying is on the truck, and I'm several months ahead....

That’s good stuff!!!!

My GF may say somethings are silly but she’s knows it’s my hobby and appreciates that side of me. Always tell her the full cost because I’m not ashamed, I’m proud, and she’s started taking an interest in off-roading as well so we both get into it

I never lie about what I spend but I might embellish the reasoning. She loves to explore as much as I do so I'll wait till we're about 50 miles from a paved road a say "Its a good thing we a have a winch and recovery gear, I'd hate to spend the night out here and have hike out in the morning". She'll say " I'm really glad you gave a winch honey";)

A $5 bottle of wine and a chicken chalupa combo with a soft taco and 24 hot sauce packets...he can do whatever he wants with his truck as long as he leaves me alone for the night. Women are really easy if you know what keeps them quiet...?

Side note* my husband is too lazy to do any of this, but if he actually thought about it for 2 minutes a lightbulb would turn on.
