Hello all Tacoma3G, imma try to explain this easy and concise as possible. Over the summer i finally re geared my Tacoma to 5:29s the tech was the same tech who did two YouTube Influencers Tacomas. I got it done In cashmere WA. Now, here comes the issue, up for discussion. I Got the gears in, did my first ten miles with the tech, and the rear end started to make what he called an “harmonic humm.” He immediately knew what it was and started educating me on it. Said that they sometimes come that way even nitros, told me
It wouldn’t affect performance at all. Great dude very knowledgeable and was the senior tech when it was nitro gear before they moved to CO. Now am I crazy, or is this something that other re geared Tacoma owners experience? Furthermore, I only hear it when im at like 50mph and the truck is decelerating. I did my break in also on the way back. I changed my fluid after 600 miles in the rear and haven’t changed the front yet; due to me not using 4x4. I don’t think it’s my transmission and I also think the guy wouldn’t screw me over either. He had my thirds already built when I showed up for the Install. Anyone in Washington state go to them for their gears? Asking everyone as well. I also have the OTT on my truck. Hope all this helps.
