I recently learned you can disable the door chime. Let's say if you wanted to listen to music with your doors open, but don't want a beeping sound letting you know the door is open. I do this while getting ready to go snowboarding or cycling so it's annoying to hear the beeping when I'm trying to get amped.

Heres how to do it:
  1. Press the ignition once to turn on the stereo.
  2. Open Door.
  3. Quickly press and release the black rubber button on the side of the body panel that the door closes against.
I guess it tricks the system to think the door was closed. Only issue, this really only works with the driver door. I haven't been able to get it to work while other doors are open.

Another option:
  1. Press ignition button twice (this will also enable all electronic features like climate control and windows) but will disable the chime with all doors open.
 
I think you can do it yourself! At the moment I forgot but been meaning to shut it off. IIRC its the same screen as setting your door locks to 1 or 2 clicks and the door lock timing. Ill look tomorrow.
 
if you put truck in neutral, set the ebrake, you can shut down the engine and leave your stereo on with no chime or timer..
 
Dealer charged me nothing to do it as stated above. Just ask for it during an oil change. If your service writer isn't a d-bag they should do it without issue. Some will claim safety issues but whatever. I've had mine disabled for well over a year without issues.

Others have been successful in disabling it with the Carista App. You can do a bunch of co stuff with that app apparently.
 
I pulled the rubber boot off and unplugged the door the door sensor in a previous toyota vehicle and it solved the issue... could create another issue if you have a habit of leaving your keys in the vehicle.. just keep that in mind.. either way, I hate door dings... it should only go off when vehicle is in drive.
 
Locating the speaker and applying some silicone would probably work great too. However that buzzer is probably so small it’s probably near impossible to find.
 
You can ask your mechanic you plug there computer in and shut it off no mods required simple click click done
 
If I had a gun with two bullets and Hitler sitting right in front of me, I’d use both of them on the cheeky cunt at Toyota who thought it’d be a good idea to make the truck beep 8 million times when you walk away from it with the key while it’s still running.

So if someone has a solution for that please lmk because I’m tired of people looking at me getting out of my truck like I’m god damn MacGruber.

Carista can do both! Plus you can get OBD Fusion and monitor trans temps and other temperatures while driving with the Bluetooth carista obd plug in
 
Has anyone seen a full list of small mods Carista can do? I have yet to invest in the app but am considering pulling the trigger as I already have the OBD dongle for use with OBDfusion. Might as well see what other mods I can do with a bit more effort.

If anyone was wondering, Carista is not capable of fixing this.
 
I discovered if u turn Off the tacoma in neutral and then put into park the radio stays on so if u want to sit in your truck for 5 mins before going to work the radio will stay on accessory mode, but doesn’t eliminate the door chime. Just a radio on feature.

I did that for my driver back door, because I have remote start for Smart key feature. It turns off the vehicle when u open any door of the tacoma so I unplugged the rear door so the truck will stay warmer or cooler while I unload or load my work stuff in the back seat

So once you throw your stuff in the back you shut the door. Go to the front to open it and it turns off anyway. Dug this up because I came across this idiot. Telling people to do all that work and break off the speaker.

You can download Carista or Techstream and disable the beeping in settings yourself without making permanent changes.
Just buy a ODBII Bluetooth Module or USB Cable.
