I had a 1989 Toyota 4X4 pickup, years before the Tacoma was a thing. Years passed since then, along with some other vehicles. My most recent was a 2005 Dodge Dakota- completely feature- free, crank windows, too. 20 years, all the miles were mine. I decided years ago that my next truck would be a Tacoma, based on the number of them I see on the road- and especially the number of OLD ones I see still in service.
So I wrecked the Dakota (NOT on purpose...) beginning of Oct 2025.
I'm sure everyone knows how difficult it is to find a manual transmission these days, but I managed to find one on CarSmak that fit my requirements. A lot of the gadgetry that came with it was surprising, I guess what I truly wanted was a Hilux, can't get them. A couple features are actually unwanted (the anti- rollback "feature" is particularly annoying).
Hoping to find some tips and tricks here beyond the "Don't do this" videos on YT. User support and community is greatly appreciated, and I'm glad to have found you!
2016 Tacoma TRD 4X4 Sport, access cab, 6' bed, 6- speed manual, 2GR-FKS, 78,319 miles at time of delivery. (This baby was in PRIME condition, too!).
