• Welcome to Tacoma3G.com, a free resource for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma owners!

This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Now, if the format of this website is confusing to navigate for you, or if you're interested in my full mission and T3G's history, check out the Help and About pages.

So, I'm pushing about 37k and I'm thinking the brakes are getting a bit squishy and it might be time to replace the pads and rotors. I remember the first year of owning my Taco the brakes had a really aggressive bite and that's faded. Now I feel like I have to really get on the brakes to stop in time pretty regularly. That said, I've heard of some people not swapping out the pads, rotors until 70k+ miles. I do carry some extra weight but not an excessive amount. I do tow a trailer but it's infrequent.

I'm curious when people have replaced their brakes mileage-wise and what they replaced them with.

I'm thinking of going this route: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005UB8X94/?tag=tacoma3g-20

Cross drilled and vented are unnecessary with the way you explain driving the truck. If you aren't getting vibration in the pedal I would slap a new set of factory pads on it.

I’m a hair over 39k and was thinking the same on my drive to work today. Pedal is starting to feel a little low and requires a little more oomph to stop the truck.

If you're looking for an aggressive bite on your brakes, I think you've got the correct plan. I will do some occasional towing but I drive rather aggressively on the norm and prefer to have stopping power when I command it. Hell, if it's in your budget try to get a set of EBC rotors and pads. I'll be putting those on my Odyssey here next spring.
