Help! Automatic shift at full throttle operations.

1️⃣ Getting Started...
I bought my 2018 18 months ago and had the transmission and ecu software updated 12 months ago. I normally drive it around town, and I consider myself a “spirited” driver, but never did a full throttle run through all the gears from a stand still. Yesterday, I had an opportunity/requirement to do that.

At some point, around 6K, an amber light came on, and the truck lost power for a moment. Then the power came back on and the truck up shifted (or did it up shift first) and continued down the road until I immediately got off the throttle. All this happened quickly. I don't know if it was in 1st or 2nd gear, as I was paying more attention to the surrounding situation than the engine performance. I do know the tack was around 6K, red line, when it happened. The truck never had any problems around town and after the engine limit, there were no other problems. All automatics I have driven in the past always up shifted before a red line situation.

Based on research, it seems I hit the high limit RPM cutoff. (Good thing, saved my engine.) The issue, in my mind, is the transmission did not up shift as the RPM increased. I have done all open throttle applications merging on freeways, but never experienced this condition, but then I was not in 1st or 2nd gear.

Does anybody have an explanation/solution for this condition/situation.

PS, I do have a throttle controller installed. Possible problem? Otherwise, the truck is stock.

No problem as it seems the truck did shift to the next awaiting gear because you still had the throttle peddle depressed.
The automatic transmission controls the shift RPM Point, you hear of people from time to time "tuning their transmission" as some people find or feel the stock tune hunting for the correct gear.

The stock tune is finding the best gear to be in for the best fuel mileage (Mr. EPA basically) ..... the transmission is it is not hunting.
Now the manual transmission cannot not shift by itself, ... So drivers of MT's beware! you can over rev the engine and cause the valve variable timing (Vtv) to reach a point of what is called "floating" and can be a problem. These engines are great but they are not mad for revving around a racetrack all day
