• Welcome to Tacoma3G.com, a free resource for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma owners!

This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Now, if the format of this website is confusing to navigate for you, or if you're interested in my full mission and T3G's history, check out the Help and About pages.

I have been wanting to do a build thread for a while but never got around to it so why not start now.

ABOUT ME
This is my first truck, I have always had cars most of which I modified and used them in autox or track days. I originally got the Tacoma to tow my 94 Miata to the track and had no intentions to modify the truck. I had no idea what I was getting into. Now I have sold my Bikes and Cars and daily the truck I have turned it into something more family oriented and now been taking the road less travel and exploring with my lady and kids. I like to use my vehicles for what they are intended for.

This is from the first weekend I bought it going to Putnam Road Course.

I made it about 2 years before I started to really get into it. My buddy went back to stock and sold me a package deal of his parts and it was down hill from there. Besides the parts he sold me everything I have been buying serves a purpose and is used.

12voltsolutions remote start
TRD Rigid Industries fog lights (For Sale Soon)

I try keep my truck as functional as possible. I was not planing on buying a bumper anytime soon because I am working on a trailer build to give us more room in the truck for the kids and pup. After this last weekend of exploring Land Between the Lakes on our own I decided a winch was going to be handy on our family trips by ourselves so I went ahead and knocked that off the list.

TRAILER BUILD

A buddy of mine started this build but ended up going to an RV so I ended up getting it for a great deal. He threw in just about all the steel I need to finish it with. A 48" and 36" tractor supply under box. 52" heavy duty slides for the 48" box. Other odds like hinges door latches and a few random things.

Started off as a 5x8 trailer cut down to a 5x6 with a 3500lb axle and axle flip kit. He had about 3" spacers to change the bolt pattern to 6x5.5 which I removed and put on new hubs with the same pattern. The wheels are 16x8 and tires are 265/75r16 which is the same size as my truck.

I also ordered 7 way plug to box, 7 colored 12 gauge wire, tail and marker lights that should be going on next week.

I have very little to no experience with trailers as well with welding. I have a little Hobart 140 that I plan to practice with and finish the trailer with.

Few more shots from last weekends trip to LBL.
