I use the afe dry filter and I clean it out after every outing but that’s just me. I like it much better than the dirty oil filters

So I installed a lift and bigger tires 285/65/r17 and as many have mentioned notice the “lag”. After doing some looking around I have seen things to help correct such as regearing, pedal commander, and OVtune. I know absolutely nothing about regearing or OVtune and have done research in the pedal commander (which looks awesome). What and where does one do regearing? How much does it typically cost? And what’s an OVtune? Sorry for the basic questions, but figured this was the thread for it. Any info helps!

Regearing means changing the gears in your front and rear differential. The options that you have to choose from are 4.88 and 5.29. 4.88 is considered the more appropriate choice for people's with tires less than 33 in in diameter and without a ton of weight added like armor and such. If you have a bunch of armor and tires up to 33 or 35-in tires and no weight then 5.29 would be better suited. Expect to spend anywhere from $2,000 to $2,500 to re-gear your truck.

OVtune is a tuning software that has been released by Orange Virus tuning. Mat is the only guy on the planet who has cracked the Tacoma ECU and his software is very good. Currently the new style of OV tune is the VF tuner and expect to pay around $800 for that.

I run both 5.29 gears and OV tune specifically for the gearing.

My personal opinion I wouldn't even bother with a pedal commander. It's just a Band-Aid.

I am beginning to do some decals on my truck but want to make sure I have a goo, lasting product. I have seen some things on Tacoma Beast that I wouldnt mind getting - any suggestions on using them or another brand?

Can't go wrong with Tacoma Beast or most decal manufacturers. The key to decals is a clean, cool surface. I use Denatured Alcohol to clean the surface and a dish soap and water solution. The solution makes it so it wont stick right away (assuming the area is still wet), making it easier to align and smooth out plus it helps remove grease and oil if you touch the sticky side.

OVtuned my 2018. 04A60. I used the new file that was provided today 04A60 2.0 Base 91 OL.p5f....Flashed with the Tactrix 2.0. Flash was successful. The car starts up fine and I let it idle for a while. The problem is when I try to press on the gas pedal NOTHING HAPPENS. It just idles. What could have possibly happen here. I believe I followed the instructions correctly and it seemed straight forward.

So no increase in RPMs at all? Either in drive or in neutral? Because that's not normal, or anything I've heard of as an issue before.

Things I would consider looking into....

Endure the electronic pedal somehow hasn't been disconnected.

Reflash the ECU. If nothing, reflash again with a different file. If nothing reflash to stock.

Disconnect and reconnect the battery.

If that stuff fails, contact OVTune at their email.

I've honestly never heard of anyone having this particular issue and I follow the OVTune stuff pretty closely.

From what I’ve read the DCLBs have a longer wheel base. Does this mean that they have a different length frame? What other things are different on it than the DCSB or AC?

Also, does the DCLB platform get used on other vehicles? DCLBs don’t seem as popular so I’m curious to know how cost effective they are to manufacture

Frame, driveshaft, bed, wiring/lines are longer. The rear axle is farther back than the short bed.
For off-roading, the longer wheelbase makes for a more stable rig at higher speeds travel, and of course offers more cargo capacity. The trade off is a significant break over angle decrease, meaning you get stuck on the truck’s belly, halfway between the two axles, more often and on smaller hills/mounds/obstacles.

Other platforms use long bed double cab quite frequently. Check out your local carpentry crews or construction crew trucks. Many have long beds and double cabs. Ram even had a double cab with an access cab added on the back plus a long bed. MORE CARGO! It was harder to park than a school bus, so it didn’t sell many.
 
oy! Ok. So this is my first vehicle with smart sensors radar/lidar all that yeah. I just replaced the rear bumper with the CBI T3 steel bumper. When purchasing it from CBI I asked about the sensors in the bumper and they told me they are not compatible with steel bumpers and most other manufacturers don't even bother. (I've since found several steel bumpers that do in fact have the holes cut for the sensors).

Anyhow, currently, the sensors have been disconnected since we mounted the new steel cbi t3. Now CBI said the system would recognize that it's unplugged and disable itself. Not the case.

How do I do away with the error message and run this thing with no rear sensors? Or, should I attempt to move the sensors into the new bumper? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've seen some other threads but none speak of the warning... at least not what I've seen. /n00b

When I first installed my bumper I left the sensors disconnected to see what would happen. They just didn't work. There was no warning lights or alarms that went off. So just disconnect the harness and cover the connections and you should be fine.
