2021 tacoma 4x4 off-road engine compatible

Hello. I have 2021 tacoma 4x4 off-road with bad engine ( part # 19000-0P411). Can I use engine from 2016 and up ? Should it be off-road only ? it's 3.5 but parts # are different compare with 2017 or 2018 etc.
I called couple Toyota dealerships , they said they don't know.

@yurik4, so the obvious question is how is a 2021 engine bad? Did you submarine it? Was it in a wreck? I believe the engine is the same for all 3G's. But I have a 2017, so I don't know for sure. The Car Care Nut discusses it below.

If it is an insurance claim, get a new crate engine that's made for your year and style, and be done with it. If it's mistake you made and cannot claim it as an insurance issue, I'd do the same, swallow the cost, and mark it down as experience. You get a warranty with crate motors. I'm sure a 2020 motor would be compatible, but I am not a Toyota Tech/mechanic.
