Question for the group. I know nothing about this however someone here definitely will. What are the pros and cons to a 1 piece vs a 2 piece driveshaft? I didn’t know the Tacoma was a two piece until recently. And honestly, I didn’t realize that driveshafts came in a two piece option at all haha.

Well, first the two piece are much more expensive. So unless you skid plate the shaft to protect it from rocks and such go with a cheaper to replace one piece.

Are there any benefits from a one piece compared to a two piece as far as performance?

I always thought that a one piece is good for less power loss. Then the whole rotational mass thing, lighter, less moving parts. Easier to spin = more fast = more available power. But that only matters when you're looking for slivers of gains. Steel > Aluminum > Carbon Fiber. I'm assuming each step costs a chunk more for minimal gains. For when you're min-maxing a build squeezing every little bit of usable power for single digit hp gains.

Two-piece is for when you need a longer driveshaft or when you start throwing down a lot of power to prevent damaging it.
