• Welcome to Tacoma3G.com, a free resource for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma owners!

This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Now, if the format of this website is confusing to navigate for you, or if you're interested in my full mission and T3G's history, check out the Help and About pages.

    Added the anytime backup camera.

    Firearms/EDC

Hold on to em. Between trying to violate the federal registry laws and shitting on the disabled community, i highly doubt this ruling will be long lived. Really hoping the supreme court decides to gut the alphabet boys by repealing the nfa in total.

Tried my hand at some leatherwork.

Help! Hum/grinding sound when applying gas at highway speeds

Mine does the same thing and gets louder the faster I go over 70. I could've sworn it was the from under the hood for the longest time like the intake or something. Once I removed the plastic cubbies behind the back seat for more storage it was very apparent it was the rear diff. Im also...

    Altitude causing diff leak?

Appreciate it. Im sure it’s overfilled. That heavier weight oil is like molasses so I’m sure there’s quite a bit extra in the haha.

    Altitude causing diff leak?

Front diff regeared to 4.88 and fluid changed to 85-140 swapped and filled in Oklahoma but visiting family in Denver which has been decently cold, diff is leaking pretty decently from the vent, anyone else have this happen?

Looking for brutal opinions on my new intro video

I like the clips and transitions but the logo is still too much. The first 2 seconds are a perfect example of how you should treat the entire video, I think you should just fade it in on the closing clip only.

What have you done to, or with, your Tacoma today?

Got a set of caliraised bolt on sliders for a steal on marketplace.

    Regrets

I regret buying it before I had a kid.

Looking for brutal opinions on my new intro video

Agreed, give em preview of whats to come. Cant tell you how many videos ill stop and move on from because the intro doesn't show me something I find interesting enough to watch the entire video for.

Looking for brutal opinions on my new intro video

Id drop the logo from every single scene and fade it in at the very end. Let the people see the cool shit then show them who you are not jam that in the middle of the entire video where it takes all the attention away from the content.

    Bilstein 6112 level set

It’ll happen. I installed them on the tallest setting on my 3rd gen which is 2” and did 1.5” I the back to keep some rake and it was level for a month or so then finally settled down.

What have you done to, or with, your Tacoma today?

    Brought back an Oklahoma elk.

    Steering Stabilizers

No. Very unlikely it’s the ball joints in the lowers and it’s never cheaper to change the whole lower over a ball joint. It’s most likely the stock UCAs don’t have enough adjustment or a steering component, or spindle is bent. Should be relatively easy to check. Just look at both sides and see...

    Steering Stabilizers

If you buy adjustable UCA's you knock out two birds with one stone. New ball joints and more adjustability. If the mechanic finds its the ball joints to be the problem, a lot of time its cheaper to replace the UCA over just the ball joint so you could be paying that labor twice.

New guy looking for lift advice, yes another one of these threads!

Id do the 5100s with the 887s. Seems like most people who use 5100s and preload the stock springs have harsher rides. Staying under 2.5" of lift keeps you from needing UCA's is also the consensus. Lastly, sounds like something else was wrong if your truck made that much noise in the rear but...

    Bilstein 6112 level set

No problem. Keep in mind the springs will settle so it'll start off taller right after install then settle to normal height.
  20. Reddirtnaps

    Bilstein 6112 level set

The 6112 on the lowest setting is going to be a 1" lift from stock for a 2nd gen. Possibly a touch more for the prerunner not for sure on that.
