• Welcome to Tacoma3G.com, a free resource for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma owners!

This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Now, if the format of this website is confusing to navigate for you, or if you're interested in my full mission and T3G's history, check out the Help and About pages.

How’s everyone holdin' up? T3G's therapeutic mental health and general chat thread.

Long time no talk peeps. Those following my story, I had been listed for a kidney/pancreas transplant. Last Saturday in June I got the call. Wife and I headed up to KU in KC. Surgery went great, Dr said it went textbook. Recovery has been terrible, I’m very sore. Yesterday got released to...

What have you done to, or with, your Tacoma today?

I figured it out last night. Checked some bed bolts and all where torqued. It was difficult to assess where the noise was coming from by my self. Turns out the squeak is from where my leafs bolt to the axle. My middle leaf specifically, which it thought was strange. So I double checked...

Welcome!! I think you'll enjoy the T3G chassis! Been a great rig for me!

What have you done to, or with, your Tacoma today?

Now that you mention it, I do notice quite a bit of bed flex. I'll start with a re-torque of the bed bolts. Guess I'll go searching today to find torque specs for that stuff.

What have you done to, or with, your Tacoma today?

I have got to figure out this rear end squeak. It's about to drive me crazy. Had it on the lift last week for an oil change and inspected everything. Sounds like it coming from the rear shock area. It started about 3 months ago, I've been lifted since Mar 2022. Not sure if something worked...

How’s everyone holdin' up? T3G's therapeutic mental health and general chat thread.

I feel that last statement some days. I think we all deal with stress a different way than most. I tend to bottle things up, then let go of them over time. My wife usually wants to start a confrontation right away and see a resolution. I'm not wired that way, I need time to understand the...

    WVYTACO Build Thread

That's awesome!! Flying is so much fun. Last aircraft I flew in was a OH-58 (Bell 206 in civ world), and rode in a UH-1 Huey from SW Mo to Arizona. Such good memories! I was also a AH-64 mechanic, and I work at a facility where we rebuild UH-60 & CH-47's.

What have you done to, or with, your Tacoma today?

My upper idler pulley started making noise last week. Hit it with some dry lube last week on the bearing, it went quiet until yesterday. Ordered Idler pulley and serp belt from Vatozone. I know what I'll be doing tonight. 66k miles.

What the hell do you make of this? AutoLSD and Traction control turning themselves on and off respectively with no driver input.

While playing in the snow last week I noticed this as well. Mine seemed to be speed dependant. Below 32 MPH all were illuminated, then above 32 MPH only AUTO LSD was illuminated. I ended up having to google search how to turn it all off completely. For those curious, to disable traction...

2024 Tacoma Revealed! Here's Everything About It.

2024 Tacoma Revealed! Here's Everything About It.

Hmmmm based on the front end alone, it's a hard pass. Those weird teardrops below the headlights are super unappealing to me. Now I'm sure a nice tube bumper would negate the need for those, but I'm not interested. My honest ONLY complaint with my truck is the transmission. Hopefully they...

FIFY. At least spell SKEWP right, GAWD. My sport does just fine. I honestly prefer the painted fenders. That last comment had me rolling...but I don't do either of those things. Unless I have taco bell the night before...then the first statement reigns true.

    Aftermarket Head Units.

Of course I have no pictures of it actually on. CarPlay is pretty responsive. I honeywent with the Joying because of the knob. Plus to me it looks more OEM than others. Plus all of the audio control options built into this unit make it a bargain. It’s got DSP built in, works pretty well...

I was eyeing a Kenwood at Best Buy the other day. It was the 10" floating screen, they had it listed for $550 on clearance. I like my Joying, but it has it's moments. I almost pulled the trigger, but then thought about CANBUS integration. I'd have to buy the Maestro and I backed out. I'm...

Don't even get me started. My wife probably spent my salary on turquoise last year, but I get questioned for wanting seat jackers :ROFLMAO: But we love them regardless, and I do what I can to keep her happy. Did we just become best friends?
  39. TCOTUE

What did you get or give for the holidays?

We got our parents smaller sentimental things. My parents got me a 6 PC Ryobi Tool Kit, so I'll stop going to their house to borrow tools. My wife and I don't exchange gifts, we just buy what we want through out the year.

4th Gen Tacoma Which Trim to buy

I purchased a Sport, before doing a lot of research on my truck. I like the fact that my 18 Sport has all black interior, unlike the same year SR5 I test drove. It had a grey headliner. For me that was a selling feature. Since buying mine, I've upgraded the suspension and stereo. I don't...

What will my truck look like with 285/75r15 0 offset.

That's a great height. To answer the tire question, I don't think you'll find a 15" wheel to clear the brake calipers. Smallest I've seen ran is a 16". Long bed looks GREAT!

Pre-Purchase Question Rough Country 6” Lift Kit To The Total Chaos Long Travel Suspension Conversion Problems!

Either way with larger sized tires it throws off the speedometer, thus making the MPG inaccurate. I calculate mine by setting my trip and how much fuel I use. My truck reads 3 mph faster than actual speed.

    Lift question for newbie

If you don't off road that much, are you going 285's for the look? I feel my 265/70/17 look beefy enough for me. I daily drive my truck 300+ miles a week.

What have you done to, or with, your Tacoma today?

I know they do an East Coast meet every couple of years. My buddy in Charleston, SC usually heads it up. But they are nothing like the Invasion turn outs. I went to a STL meet once it was a lot of fun, but I think that was in '05?

Help! anybody here had to replace a front driver's side transaxle needle bearing with a bronze bushing?

Pull the axle out completely to give you more room. You'll need a large 36mm(?) socket for the axle nut. I also recommend the bushing driver. I didn't buy one, and wished I had. I just changed the fluid at the same time. Take your time, the most time consuming part for me was driving the new...

Light bar for a guy who hates light bars?

I've also debated this. Since I'm a Sport owner, I thought about doing a skewp light bar, but I'm kinda picky like you. They look kinda goofy, and when would I use it? Unlike you, anytime my headlights are on I run my fogs.
