This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Heavy duty alternator

By the way, has anyone here ever pulled their stock alternator? Is there a trick to getting that bolt out of the bracket attached to the rear of the alternator under the intake manifold bracket? This whole endeavor is stalled because I can't figure out how to get it out with the space provided.

    Heavy duty alternator

For mine, it's not a matter of voltage, I have a DC/DC charger with buck-boost functionality. The problem is amperage and heat. I need more of the former without the latter.

2016 Alternator Replacement DC Power Engineering 270A

Yeah, it will need to be reclocked to move the power stud over, I think. Is that what they did for you? I did find the nut for the bracket that was giving me fits today. It was on a youtube video of a Lexus alt swap. Its a 14mm nut right under the intake manifold support bracket lower stud...

2016 Alternator Replacement DC Power Engineering 270A

I am swapping the stock TRD Off-Road alternator for a 270A model from DC to drive a charger for LiFePO4 batteries in my travel trailer. At least, that was the plan. I am having a bear of a time getting the old alt out and the new alt (supposedly the correct part for this truck) didn't fit...

    Power Inverters?

2000W of 120VAC would cost you 188A of 12VDC power to make. The biggest alternator I have seen for a Tacoma is the DC Power 270A. At cold idle, it can only push out about 190A total and drops to 170A at hot idle. You just can't pull that much juice from a Taco alternator, even if you get the...

    Heavy duty alternator

I am trying to put in a 270A DC Power unit, but having a bear of a time doing it.

    High Output Alternator

Well, they said to just reclock it so the stud is elsewhere. OK. Makes sense. Now I am trying to remove the old one myself, and am having a bear of a time getting it out. I bought the Haynes manual, and it is little to no help whatsoever. The whole section on removing and reinstalling the...

    High Output Alternator

I bought this alternator for the exact reason you mentioned. I have a bank of LiFePO4 batteries in my rig that I wanted to charge while going down the road. It is a very nice looking alt, no doubt. The problem is, when you try to tighten it up, the positive post touches the frame. That's a...
