• Welcome to Tacoma3G.com, a free resource for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma owners!

This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Now, if the format of this website is confusing to navigate for you, or if you're interested in my full mission and T3G's history, check out the Help and About pages.

    SDHQ Chase Rack

It’s expensive but so worth it. Only one little detail missed the mount points don’t have a drain so about a cup of water stays in there, thinking caps or drilling a small 0.125” hole.

    ...and so it begins

worried the access plate will be a weak point, suppose I could get mobtown steel with reinforced ribs
  13. eldedo

    ...and so it begins

mainly a day tripper, not quite a full overland build but capable of more than stock. As for communications, CB, Ham(2m/440 +hf/6m)
  14. eldedo

    Lancaster, Ca

    ...and so it begins

thanks, got a bit more to go, armor, gearing, recovery gear, then communication.

OVTune VF Tuner | OVTune - Tacoma ECU flash tune options and feedback

good point, but although the throttle response is a little "numb" it doesn't bother me too much. Hunting gears doesnt really happen too much with the way I drive, either that or I have gotten used to it.
  17. eldedo

    What Leaf setup w/ Kings?

no diff drop its useless for the 3rd gens. as for the dakars, 2.75-3" lift.
  18. eldedo

    Show me your sliders

...but Im getting your front bumper and skids. With your front bumper the cuts dont have to be "perfect" because the way you have it designed.
  19. eldedo

    CMC?!

Someone once told me, fix what Toyota didn't when I asked if I need a CMC. So pinch weld and cmc are done.
  20. eldedo

What oil are you running and what intervals are you changing it at?

OEM filters all the way, I looked up surface area/flow and micron rating, nothing comes close. I do 5 to 7k because if I don't have time I'll never exceed the 10k recommendation.

If 4.88 gearing does what it's reported to do, then a tune becomes not needed. IMO.

    BAMF, kickout at 20°

BAMF, full bolt on, no drilling required.

    What Leaf setup w/ Kings?

Running Dakars, heard aal can be harsh. So just replaced the whole pack.
  26. eldedo

    Factory diff flush?

Lucas 85w140, ecgs recommends this after bushing install, so I changed both out.
  27. eldedo

    4.88 Gears

Great writeup, I was on the fence about this, now I'm not. What was the total cost?
  28. eldedo

    When are UCA’s really needed?

Side note, stock alignment numbers go out the window when you lift. In particular is caster, typically target around 4°.
  29. eldedo

Sway bar. Keep or toss it?

Surprised no one has come up with a quick release yet
  30. eldedo

    Rock Sliders

running BAMF, black friday sale last year.

    ...and so it begins

lighting mods and spare switches. 5 relays 10 fuses, 5 of the fuses dedicated to relay outputs, 5 for other auxiliaries (cb/ham radios spare usb chargers). Second ground crimp is kinda crappy going to redo and heat shrink. Ground bar was a 350 amp blade fuse leg. The rest is from amazon.
  32. eldedo

    ...and so it begins

Misc Observations: Had to cut quite a bit, could have avoided that by getting light racing uca's that allow for up to 4° caster. Mine maxed out at 2.75°, CMC plus some plastic. *Looks like I need to reshape the inner fender wall, the pinch welds are rubbing on one side....odd. *had he alignment...
