• Welcome to Tacoma3G.com, a free resource for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma owners!

This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Now, if the format of this website is confusing to navigate for you, or if you're interested in my full mission and T3G's history, check out the Help and About pages.

    Trail Run Organizing and Discussion

Clarks grade is very promising, both those trails though arenot great for 10+ trucks. That whole area is awesome though. Gold mountain can have heavy traffic if you wanted to run that, buti it can get annoying. I can show all of yall around!
  14. Malcolm

    Wheel spacers

A good hub centric spacer will not cause this all the time. Where people fall short is they buy cheap spacers, forget to check torques, or install incorrectly. Ive been running spacers at 1.5" for a while now and they are fine.
  15. Malcolm

What have you done to, or with, your Tacoma today?

no im not able to open the fuse box below the plate, but i never need to access that area so not much of an inconvenience at all. @Mr. Nobody actually hooked me up with the plate and it wasnt designed to hold everything i put on it but i altered it to make it work! and dont worry i reconnected...

Now I know you all probably have this problem. You get lights and wire them up quickly out of excitement, forget about them, and move on. New wheels Method MR315

Nice dude! i really like the way those look on your rig. You made a good choice.
  22. Malcolm

    Ray10 sizing help?

The thing about width is you need to determine how much sidewall you want, the wider the wheel the less sidewall protection you have. I run a 12.5" wide tire on a 7" wide wheel and it provides a bunch of sidewall that provides me more traction when aired down. Also it will help protect from all...

  24. Malcolm

Let's hear it! How long have YOU gone without a front license plate in California?

thats just what it said when i had received my plates. when i called and told them i didnt have a front mount and they sent me two they said it would be corrected after about an hour on the phone.
  25. Malcolm

Let's hear it! How long have YOU gone without a front license plate in California?

Ya it will say it on your tag papers when you recieve your plate, pretty sure you can call them to correct it if you were issued two but dont have a front mounting area. thats what i did for mine. My truck came from colorado though so idk if that has something to do with it, but they said i...
  26. Malcolm

Let's hear it! How long have YOU gone without a front license plate in California?

California law states if your truck doesnt have a mounting spot for a front license plate then its not required to run one, mine never came with one, then i got the new bumper so i just never did. I registered my truck in florida last december though so idk

T3G Feedback and questions about Tacoma3G.com - How can our community and website be better?

Heres my input, creating a separate site, or having two complete sites sort of defeats the purpose of us doing this transition over to accept other makes and models of offroad vehicles. This transition is to make our already amazing platform available to those who may not have a similar...

    ABS Random Warnings

It could be that dirt or moisture got inside of the sensor. Try taking them off, cleaning them thoroughly and re-installing. this can usually solve the problem unless one of the sensor was hit or knocked while offroading.

True talk and only makes sense, since true amber cuts through weather like a beast. Higher the kelvin the more reflection you can get.
  50. Malcolm

    Brightest aftermarket lights

Ya i suppose that is a downside of LED, due to the wave length of the light it tends to reflect more.
  51. Malcolm

Locker or LSD? whats your prefrence?

Locker will always be superior over a LSD.
  52. Malcolm

    Brightest aftermarket lights

Yea i went for them in my Low beams to replace the HID's because their warranty deal is a pain in the ass, i was not dissapointed at all.
  53. Malcolm

Do we have any other computer nerds here?

Im a huge computer nerd and have built loads of computers in my past. However i just sold my tower/gaming rig. I know a lot on the technical side of things though so if you have any questions ask away! @Tyler what ever happened with that giveaway you won? and why are you regretting the macbook

Honestly i have been toting HID's forever, but when one side of my 150$ Morimoto elite 55w kit had a complete failure i decided to try LED's. I have the auxbeam H11 90W LED headlights and can honestly say theyre as bright as my 55W HID Kit i had. The light is instant and much cleaner, theyre...

    Wiring harness length

you can just match the gauge wire to the spec of the factory, its usually around 14AWG, and slide the lengths together.

no that was just for labor.
  64. Malcolm

    CMC vs. Cab Mount Relocation

The nice this about the relocation is that the back end is pretty much the same location, all its doing is angling the front farther back and more slimeline to allow for more room on the backend of the tire.
  65. Malcolm

    New Gears break in period

Holy cow... I paid 900 for mine.

OVTune VF Tuner | OVTune - Tacoma ECU flash tune options and feedback

I just got the gears in and it made a world of difference, but im thinking that coupled with OV Tune would be incredible. So i think i may just pick it up sometime after Expo West.

Wow thats beefy suspension! basically what i have except for the billet UCA's and RXT leaf pack. I have Dakar's and Total Chaos on mine. I love the TRD Pro's in white especially with those bronze wheels. This is super clean man, cant wait to see more! Welcome to the forums bro.

    Blacking out my racks.

I would suggest a Poly paint personally. Poly is extremely durable and you can find pop cans of it for a good price. Would probably only take you about 1-2 cans to get some good solid layers on there. Plastidip is nice because its removable, but it is also not very durable. Enamel would be my...

    Your Wheels

Depends how much wheel you want showing over tire, by this i mean how much you want the sidewall of the tire to protrude away from the wheel itself. A lot of crawlers or people who hit rocky trails (me) like a skinnier wheel because it provides more sidewall for the tire to grip with aiding in...

    Popping noise

do you hear the same noise when going over speed bumps or hitting drops in the road? check your coils and look for wear on the coil, could be the UCA knocking the coilover. if not, recheck all your torques, make sure everything is good and tight.
  82. Malcolm

    New Gears break in period

Just got back from picking up the truck from regear and it is like a whole new truck.
  83. Malcolm

What have you done to, or with, your Tacoma today?

You might end up doing so. from what ive been hearing 4.88's arent enough on the 315's. bbig reason why i just went 5.29's
  84. Malcolm

    New Gears break in period

yes of course, you should 100% do that, i was more so explaining to process of breaking them in which is essentially polishing and deburring them in the diff. This is a big reason why you change the fluid because there may be shavings or the fluid will become clouded.
  85. Malcolm

What have you done to, or with, your Tacoma today?

Shes in the shop right now getting 5.29 gears ;)
  86. Malcolm

    New Gears break in period

Certain shops will tell you a difference in opinion, but realistically you should stop every 10 miles for about 30-45 minutes to let them cool down for at least 30 miles so do that 3 times. Then take it easy for 500 miles, normal road driving no offroading or towing.

Welcome and congrats on your purchase! glad you made your way over here. if you were to do a 6" lift i would highly suggest going with a coilover designed for that size lift, Icon and King both make them for 6" lifts.
