• Welcome to Tacoma3G.com, a free resource for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma owners!

This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Now, if the format of this website is confusing to navigate for you, or if you're interested in my full mission and T3G's history, check out the Help and About pages.

    Hearing a chirp

I'd guess something in a shock then, but could be as simple as a squeak in an exhaust hanger. Just to cover your bases let it cool completely the crawl under and wiggle anything that can move like exhaust, spare tire, etc.

Bought a Taco with a lift...

Looks like you're right. The part number for the 5100's was 3rd Gen from when I looked it up previously. I wonder if they used OR springs? Seems taller than the average SR I see around by quite a bit. The spacer in the rear is steel, just surface rust on it for now. The U-bolts are stupid...

    Brake upgrade

+1 for EBC. I have been swapping them onto everything I work on and have been thoroughly impressed. Pick a compound that fits your needs and they'll be great. Side note, be sure to check Amazon's 'warehouse deals' for a bargain. Got the redstuff pads for my Golf on there for $30 a set.

    Hearing a chirp

I was getting a bit of squeak on the OEM rear springs, sounds similar. Narrowed it down by bouncing the rear of the truck in the driveway, was in the driver's side spring pack or rear bushings. Sprayed both with silicone spray and took it to full flex on the trail a few times, not a sound since.

Bought a Taco with a lift...

Pictures attached. No spacers from what I can see, apprars to be spring lift all around.

Bought a Taco with a lift...

So, I bought my '16 SR with some parts on it not really knowing much beyond 'it has a lift.' I'm hoping to get some help in nailing down where I'm actually at, and what sort of options I have for wheels/tires. On the front my measurement from center of the hub to the fender is 23". There are...

    Rear bumper options

Looks like they may be a great option... 20 minute drive lol. Thanks for the heads up! Edit: looks like I went to HS with one of the main guys there, who knew? Time to get on it.

    Colorful Colorado

Seen a few nicely built rigs around here, hope to see more posted. Here's my taco up Ballard Road a few weeks back, not a great shot but the trail isn't great for photo opportunities... Next time! Side note, anyone know of fabrication shops making taco parts around here? Or a shop that stocks...

    Rear bumper options

Due to a slightly unfortunate parking lot incident I'm in the process of looking for a rear bumper for my taco and I'm having a tough time making a decision. I get the truck into some rocks here in CO where the departure angle can be a struggle, so I was leaning towards high clearance. I plan...
