I was installing a set of Meso’s puddle lights and after running the wires from the doors to the a-pillar I disconnected the wiring connector in the a-pillar where the y-harness connects. I then plugged the y-harness in and reconnected the battery. I immediately saw smoke from under the dash...
LOL! I read a comment somwhere that Toyota got the 3rd gen center console designed and then built the rest of the truck around it. That's about how it felt while I was doing the install! :)
The install of the lower switch panel from Meso Customs is pretty involved. You have to take quite a bit of stuff off to get to the area. Then, you have to cut put the old panel area and use JB WELD or something similar to attach the new switch panel. There is a really good Youtube video that...
Here's what I did. I bought a switch panel from Meso Customs that has openings for seven switches plus the power (lighter) outlet. I put the heater switches in there with the others and turned on the Qi charger and left it on behind the dash. So far it's been perfect and looks factory.
