• Welcome to Tacoma3G.com, a free resource for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma owners!

This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Now, if the format of this website is confusing to navigate for you, or if you're interested in my full mission and T3G's history, check out the Help and About pages.

    Trailer ball rust

Amsoil heavy duty metal protector. Sprays on and dries to a clear brown thin coating. Works great for exposed bolts and battery connections.

    Ranger Eco Boost technology

Those Ford numbers are impressive. Look up 2.3 liter ecoboost engine troubles. Fords whole ecoboost line is a mechanical flop.

    Sport Mode

I use sport and ECT all the time. Gives me the best gas mileage.

    Rattle driving me crazy

From the info that I could find, bed bolt torque on my 2018 is 55 to 65 ft pounds, dry threads. I put anti seize on my bolt threads and tightened them to 50 ft pounds. It's been a year and nothing has loosened.

    Rattle driving me crazy

I would buy a new spacer (or find a used one) and find a washer or make a steel shim for on top of the frame tab where the plastic bed sits. The bed is now actually 1/8 inch low in that corner. I brought my new truck home and checked all the torques on the bolts. ALL of my bed bolts were...

    Rattle driving me crazy

The sleeve wasn't too long, the bed had worn where it contacts the frame.

    Rattle driving me crazy

The spare tire chain? Not in that location, but noise travels. Or...there are exhaust heat shields on that side that may be loose. A 10mm wrench will tell you if that is the cause.

Why do so many people prefer 4 doors vs Access cab?

A 4 door truck is only 3 1/2 doors, as the two rear doors are only 3/4 size. The access cab has the doors swing back, partially blocking entrance to the rear of the truck. It's not like there is a hell of a lot of room to begin with.

What Engine Air Filter Are You Running?

I've used K&N filters for 44 years and almost half a million miles and have never had trouble with or had to replace my MAF sensor. The only times this happens is if your engine is suffering from extreme blowby OR you don't know how to correctly oil the filter.

    Spark plugs

If I recall correctly, the 3.5 V6 in my 2018 Tacoma comes with 3 Denso and 3 NGK plugs. Does anyone know the part number of the NGK spark plugs? Thanks.

This bird had no chance with my wife Driving today.. kinda felt bad for the little fella. TACOMA (1) BIRD (0)

Your wife shouldn't feel too badly. I took out a 12 pound groundhog last week with my TRD front skid plate. It was laying in the center of my lane on a busy two-lane road. I thought it was roadkill, so I straddled it with my tires. Just as I was going to drive over it, the groundhog sat up...
