• Welcome to Tacoma3G.com, a free resource for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma owners!

This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Now, if the format of this website is confusing to navigate for you, or if you're interested in my full mission and T3G's history, check out the Help and About pages.

    Help! Transmission issues

Just an update: Took over a month to get the torque converter from Toyota and another week for the dealership to install. All was covered under warranty so I really can't complain too much, and I had an extra vehicle -- I laughed when the service writer asked if I did have a vehicle...when he...

    Help! Transmission issues

Dealership called, looks like I'm getting a new torque converter. Luckily still covered under warranty. If anyone wants to know how to diagnose with Techstream, I was able to find this: https://www.ttguide.net/mechanical_system_tests-989.html I just didn't have an area safe enough around me to...

    Help! Transmission issues

Adding this to the list of things for the dealership to check this week when I go in. The dealership is fairly good at the "could not reproduce game" so I usually go in with a list of things for them to verify for me and eventually they figure it out. My son has always complained that shifts...

    Help! Transmission issues

Backstory: Had my RMS replaced in my 2017 4x2 Access Cab TRD Sport about 5k mi ago (warranty replacement after a leak was found). Shortly after I started noticing the truck really struggles at the 1-2 shift right around 1100 RPM. This just happens to be around 20mph and the perfect stop and go...
