We have recently bought a 2017 Tacoma SR for my son. From the day we got it we have experienced a starting issue. This issue is intermittent. Essentially what happens is we turn the key, the lights on the dash come on but nothing happens with the starter, no grinding, no clicking, just silence from the engine, the only thing we hear is the jingling of the keys as we turn them to the start position. We have figured out that if we raise the hood and let it "slam" down it will usually be enough to "engage" whatever isn't connecting and it will turn over and start. Initially the slamming of the hood worked every time the first time, lately it hasn't worked as reliable. We have had to open and close the hood multiple times or even now opening and closing the doors has worked. It seems to be getting worse. I have had it in the dealer and fortunately it happened twice while there, but unfortunately, they can't find anything wrong with it. They have performed all the checks on the battery, starter, ignition, terminals but don't see anything wrong. Have any of you experienced this issue? Does anyone have any ideas?
