2022 SR5 V6 Automatic w/regular key ignition. The engine starts without having to depress the brake pedal. Anybody know if this is just a bad brake light switch (the one under the dash by the brake pedal) or something more involved?

Have you try adjusting switch's plunger rod travel by moving switch body closer/further away from brake pedal. Previous switch position may be at cusp of making/ breaking connection. Believe your vehicle is too new to have a bad/broken switch IMO but then sh... can happen. You may want to check switch's integrity for continuity when plunger is depressed or extended. Have not done one in a Taco but did one in 4th gen 4R., a 10 minute job to remove switch and bench test if I recall. Good luck.
Thank you for the suggestions. I will get into it this weekend. Brake lights works and trans. shifter works normally. That is why I am wondering if the brake light switch is really what controls the starting of the engine. I can't find any information that details it.
Sounds like a bad brake light switch, yeah. That's the most common culprit for that. It's a pretty easy swap, too. But before you buy a new one, check the switch itself and all the wiring
