Bump stops?

When I was preparing to lift my Tacoma, I search everything for a proper lift. The one thing rarely mention is the bump stops.
One year before I actually order my lift kit, i knew I will need bump stops, sway bar relocation kit, front diff drop kit, a rear drive shaft drop kit. Order them a year before.

I actually order the “Duro bumps” front and rear for a two inch lift.

Duro bumps stops mention, more control, comfort from hard suspension bottom outs.
Improve handling, no loss of up-travel, reduce bmp steer, longer life of suspension, and uses OEM mounting locations ( Easy in stall).
Duro bumps $275
Timbrem bump stops
Energy Suspension bump stops
Sumo bump stops
Fox and Icon has a shock absorbers type bump stops -expensive!

Did you install any higher bump stops? I may change my rear to the Sumo blues,maybe yellow, a future mod?
 
I have the Timbrens in the rear and found that the Stock bump stops were better. Timbrens are quite a harsh hit. Even though that's exactly the opposite of their claim. Did not change the fronts.
 
I am surprised to hear the Timbren were harsh for you. It’s purpose is to prevent a hard bottom out. Is your truck stock? Or lifted?

Ok , I watch a couple of videos on timbren and Sumo, The guy from Sumo explain the difference of air bags , timbren and Sumo.
Timbren is made of rubber great for heavy loads, but rubber can create a hard bump. It seem Sumo will be better.
Sumo comes in three levels of hardness, better for our Tacoma. Best to call Sumo for your loads, camper, roof top racks, or just empty bed with loads for camping ,etc.
Sumo has more cushion.

Guess I should be looking at rear bump stops. I installed the Wheelers kit for the front when I installed my lift.
 
Bumps can be critical while driving, helps with sagging, sway, jarring bumps on the roads, great for towing.
Getting the right bumps is also important. Watch a few Sumo bump stops videos, and others.
 
I don't think bump stops are supposed to help with handling, or sagging. If you're on the bump stops, you're overloaded. Riding on the bump stops will put too much stress on the axle and hubs and everything. Riding on the timbrens or Sumos is probably better than riding on the stock bump stops because they have more travel, but still not good. You want to be riding on the springs.
 
I have 33's, 3 inches of life in the rear, 2 in the front, stock bumps, and no issues. Wouldn't bother with bump stops unless you are high speed desert racing style driving on a regular basis.
 
Most people will not notice how the bump stops working. Having the right size and right type for your use to me is important. I do not want a hard bottom outs. Plus they say suspension will last longer. Plus the other benefits.
I have a camper top. Usually unloaded . I do carry several hundred pounds when loaded.

Bumps stops are not usually mention for lifted vehicles. (More for people who tow)
Best to do your own research. And what’s best for you.

I have bottom out at slow speeds, usually in hole, or dip.

Remember when you lift the truck, the factory bump stops are also further away, making a bigger drop, when you bottom out.
And bump stops should not be engaging /touching unless this is what you wanted.
Research this? Find the right size bumps stops matching for your lifts. It may improve the handling and performance. Easy to install. Can get a bit pricey? The rewards will be worth it.
