• Welcome to Tacoma3G.com, a free resource for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma owners!

This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Now, if the format of this website is confusing to navigate for you, or if you're interested in my full mission and T3G's history, check out the Help and About pages.

Tyler, what did you do with your shark fin? Did you just delete it or relocate it?

I would like to cover mine up, but still have it’s functionality.

I kept it where it is. The radio isn’t useable though, but we use music streaming on our phones anyway.

I mostly listen to podcasts nowadays, but occasionally I’ll listen to SXM, so I would like to keep the antenna functional.

Thx.

What head unit do you use? Easy fix would be just add a new XM antenna and just leave the factory one there if you just need that space or want to go flush.

It’s the head unit that comes with the 2018 offroad. Any idea how the reception is with an aftermarket XM antenna?

Today is sort-of T3G's 5th birthday (May 1st is probably the official b-day since that was when the forum opened to the public). I know it isn't as active of a forum as it once was but it's still pretty cool that we're going 5 years later!

Kinda funny, but the Tacoma doings on ih8mud are minimal. TW sucks, and so this is still my go to for the wealth of information contained in the build threads and other aspects.

Tyler, I'd recommend some consolidation of information (to which I'd be happy to contribute) with "sticky" posts on things like lift options, tire sizes, bumpers options, tunes, bed racks, etc.

And I hope you'll pardon the morbid perspective (comes from being a surgeon), but if something happens to you, or you just decide to go do something else, I'd like some back up people to aid in keeping the site running. There is too much good stuff here you've built to let go.

Many new updates coming to the site soon. Including push notifications on iPhone and Mac (already working if you know where to find them).

Especially compared to the more popular option on Amazon which costs $100, lol.
Yeah, I actually machined out my second set and even with a set for comparison it took FOREVER because of the weird angles. I don't recommend making your own.

Did you add them to the passenger side?

Hey @Tyler ! Found you on YouTube and love what you’re doing. I just ordered my FWC and I have a 2017 Tacoma short bed. Was doing a mock up today to see how much my total truck weight will be when it’s fully packed and with all the mods . Looks like I’m going to be coming in around 7,300 lbs . I know you have a pretty heavy set up as well and just wanted to know what your total weight was when you are fully loaded and if you have any advice / tips for me on my set up?

What lift kit did you use? I’m wanting something to fit 285s as well and not lose cargo capacity but also not be stiff as hell

test again
