Hello finally got me a Tacoma. Bought it used and plan on oil change this weekend. It's a 2018 4cyl sr. Has the oil filter changed from the case to a spin filter?
 
No spin filter, just the stupid cartridge. I end up getting covered in oil every time I change it.
 
Mine is a spin type oil filter. Did someone put a screw on 1 n place of that type tacomas usually have
 
Maybe the 4 cyl is different from the V6? I havn't run across many of the 4s.
 
Think your right they do have different oil filters. Wonder y toyota Did that?? There's a kit that u can install to make the hard case to a spin off filter
 
Yeah, Baxter is the only one I know of and it is not cheap

Get the MotivX tool kit....I never get any oil on me after getting those tools. It is a drain for the filter housing, a socket for the filter housing, and a funnel for the oil filler tube.

That does seem like a much cheaper option.
