• Welcome to Tacoma3G.com, a free resource for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma owners!

This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Now, if the format of this website is confusing to navigate for you, or if you're interested in my full mission and T3G's history, check out the Help and About pages.

T3G Feedback and questions about Tacoma3G.com - How can our community and website be better?

This is the one I use, IF I use it. But I strictly use desktop, rarely have time to post on the weekends.

Thanks. I’ll try to figure out why some of the mark read buttons might be missing.

Your screenshot just informed me of something else that I didn’t realize wasn’t working. You see those empty boxes next to the main menu items (home, wiki, community, forum, media, classifieds)? Those boxes are supposed to be icons, not empty boxes. So I’ll look into that as well, lol.

Icons like these:

@zsmith4472 - I added one here, which is where I think it was in the first place? Not sure how/why I moved it. How's this?

Something about the emoticons looks changed. I'm on/off here a lot, so I'm not sure. Is it that they didn't used to say the name next to them? Unless that was a purposeful change.

You were right. Should be back to normal now. Thanks everyone for helping point these things out!

Yea I'm just blind, thing is I rush cause I only come on here during my little free time at work.. My bad! :)

In 6 days, we leave NY to drive to CA to spend the next 4 months at different events around the country. Soooo, I’m trying to get the new site fully launched within the next few days. 😅

Hey guys. A lot is coming this week, some of which you can probably already see parts of.

I want to let you all know one thing though.

The website name is almost certainly changing from Tacoma3G.com to TacomaPortal.com. Besides that, the website remains a 3rd gen Tacoma website and can still be called Tacoma3G. Tacoma3G.com will simply redirect TacomaPortal.com so you won't have to think about it.

Why?

Because I'm trying to prepare for the future of the Tacoma and have been thinking about this for a few years, actually. I love running Tacoma3G and I love its aesthetic and community vibe that we have. When the next Tacoma comes out, I want to do the same thing for it - create a Tacoma4G. Well, a few years ago I made a mistake and lost the Tacoma4G.com domain that I used to own. So ever since, I've been thinking about my options. The one thing that kept coming back to me is inconsistency. If Tacoma3G stayed as the name of this site, but the 4th gen site used an alternative name like Tacoma4Gforum.com, the branding would be inconsistent and that would bother me.

After lots of brainstorming and considering different options, TacomaPortal.com is the one I think is the best move.

TacomaPortal.com will simply be a "portal" (homepage) into one of the two websites: Tacoma3G or Tacoma4G. There will be a forum (this one), wiki with Tacoma technical data, a shop to buy parts, classifieds, etc., but separated by generation if you want them separate, or combined as one if you want to see both. This will happen automatically; you won't need to sign up for a new site because there won't be a new site. TacomaPortal is this site, it's just that this site is getting ready to accommodate for the 4th gen (and/or electric) Tacomas.

Again, nothing changes on your end except for the name. But the 3rd gen sections can (and naturally would) still be called Tacoma3G.com.

Please don't kill me! 🙈

Edit: To add, you should be able to see a preview of the portal while I'm still working on it, if you go here:

and the wiki:

and the store:

Now I not only have to go into therapy for the thought of a fourth gen taco, I have to deal with this🤪. Is it 5:00 yet?
The good news is, I'm literally going to add an "opt out of 4th gen content" button. The other good news is, the 4th gen might not be relevant for another 2 years so you'll have plenty of time with your shrink! 😅

I like the sound of TacomaPortal.com, good choice. Definitely much better than TacomaGspot.com

Could be good to also give support back in generations for 1G and 2G
Thank you! I was thinking about the 1G and 2G. Maybe one day if I have the time, I can add 1G and 2G pages inside the Wiki.

Also, I've been excited to show you how the store will work. It will allow the vendor to upload a product via their own account (so, @ARCHIVE) and have it either purchasable here via members' own forum accounts, or it can link to the product on your own website. It also supports discounts, sales, taxes, invoices, etc. Small preview is open but I still have a lot to do to make it fancy: Store (https://tacoma3g.com/shop/)

Maybe an EG was well for the inevitable electric version.

The worst thing about the store is I CAN'T BUY A T-SHIRT YET!!!

Respect to changing the name of the site. This will give a new light to the site and probably increase your SEO without even trying. Excellent work Tyler!

Thank you!!

Your guys' comments are making me feel better about it!

I just beta tested the whole "shop", bought some stuff, it rocks! 🤘
Haha, glad you like it.

But it will be SO much better when I'm done with it. It has been a huge project for me and you aren't even seeing the pretty side of the shop or the wiki yet!
