• Welcome to Tacoma3G.com, a free resource for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma owners!

This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Now, if the format of this website is confusing to navigate for you, or if you're interested in my full mission and T3G's history, check out the Help and About pages.

Taco beltran

My last Seibon hood wasn't clearcoated. It had the gel coat from Seibon. After a a short time it oxidized and went to shit. I had to get it sanded and clearcoated to look normal again.

You can sort of see it here. It was this super cloudy hazy dull looking turd.

Oh yeah , you can tell, I was worried when I first got it too cuz I thought oh man first off the hood isn't cheap, then I have to drill holes for the pins if I want run them , then clear coat it, then the up keep to maintain the look but I just pulled the trigger before I regretted it. I am gonna do those things for sure though.

Aerocatch hood pins are the way to go. If you do, just make sure you prep. Use tape. I'd tape both sides. The clear and resin or whatever is use can crack/chip when cut. Definitely get hoods pins ASAP! Have seen a Seibon break at the latch point. The hood flew up, snapped at the hinges and smacked the windshield on the highway. Dude was out not just the hood, but also the windshield.

The Quik-latch isn't too bad either.
