Can someone tell me what the real world difference is with the recycle air button for the A/C?

Having it off makes your AC not work as hard and is more efficient. Having it on is not as efficient but keeps unwanted smells out of your cab. For instance, we have alot of feedlots here in Nebraska. Passing one can sometimes be a stink-session. Before driving past said feedlot you can turn on the re-circulate and keep the feedlot smell out. Having it off your cooling the outside air thus you can have cold feedlot smell.

It definitely helps keeps odors out from outside the truck. It will also help dehumidify the air in the cabin when its humid out. Bonus feature is that when its closed while the truck is parked and stored it will close the access for rodents to get in.

I don't think it makes a huge difference on mpg but I can't prove that.

I believe it won’t. There are plenty of people that don’t even know about this/the ECGS bushing with more lift than that, and they’re ok. But I’m not saying they shouldn’t do the bushing cause they should if possible.

With 1.25”, I can’t see that causing failure. I have 2.25” in the front and think I feel some vibration, but it could be placebo. I plan to do the bushing anyway for mine though. Do you feel vibration?

If I plan to do a 3” lift, should I also include this bushing in my plans for the best outcome?

For those answering: Give a no-bullshit proper answer/advice to the questions. I don’t care if they’re asking why their push-to-start won’t work. Just tell them that they need their foot on the brake.

I never did it and haven’t had a problem. Going on 4 years without it. I have about 3” lift in the front.

You typically don’t need new wheels for anything besides being able to fit tire sizes that are 34” and bigger. (There are a few other specific cases for new wheels but I’m keeping it simple for this thread).

As for the gears, it also depends on your tire size — not the height of the lift. Usually 34” and bigger tires pair well with the 5.29 gears. 34” and smaller tires pair well with 4.88 gears. But you don’t have to change your gears at all.

Knowing what you guys know now, would you do either of these? Back story, I daily drive my 3G. 63 miles a day, so I drive mostly highway. I'd probably say 95% on road, 5% off road. I'm looking into replacing the stock Sport shocks for something a little more appealing for off road adventures. I'm leaning towards 2 different set ups.

At this current moment, I will not be doing a RTT/bumper/winch. But I will be doing tires soon. I'm also open to suggestions, I'd ultimately like to keep the cost below $700, which I think I can do either of the mentioned set ups for around there.

Thanks for the feedback. I did however forget to mention that I'll be pulling a smaller camper later on. I'm leaning more towards the 5100/AAL. But I'd only pull maybe once a month. I was debating a spacer, but the age old saying gets me every time...buy once, cry once.

Holy cow (no pun intended) I always assumed having it on made the AC more efficient because the interior temp was likely cooler than outside temp.

I should have worded that better. In recirculate mode you're using more fuel but its minimal. Recirculate is easier on the compressor.

How does it use more fuel? I thought it was just a button that closed off the fresh air vent to keep air from coming in from outside. I know you need to have the AC on in order to activate it but it will stay on recirculate after you shut the AC off. Is the AC on constantly if you have the button active just like it would if you have on the defrost?

Temperature differential aka split. If your AC can lower the incoming air temp by 20 degrees, there will be a big difference between the temperature of the air coming from the vents if it is 100 degrees outside (and not using recirculate) vice recirculating the 80 degree interior air.

I want to put up a rooftop tent but recently found out it has permanent roof rails that might not fit with the rooftop tent I am looking at.

You might be overthinking it. There are many options and I'm sure it will have adjustable mounting points.
Some may include the hardware. I know some of the pictures aren't Tacomas, but it shows that it's compatible with many different types of RTT's.
