• Welcome to Tacoma3G.com, a free resource for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma owners!

This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Now, if the format of this website is confusing to navigate for you, or if you're interested in my full mission and T3G's history, check out the Help and About pages.

I want to play with the cool kids on the block but I only have a 2nd gen!
This is my second Tacoma and this one I plan on doing right the first time around. Purchased this June of 2017 because I did not have 4x4 on the old truck. Only had 41K miles on it and came with the camper shell which I wanted!

Rear: Icon RXT with resi and bump stops (currently at stage3)

Hey man, I appreciate your support despite not having a 3rd gen. However, I’m gonna move your thread to our off-topic forum because this is technically unrelated to 3rd gen content. I hope you can understand that. It’s just to keep the integrity of the site. Feel free to continue to post a full build thread!

no problem!

Added some wheels and tires today. Discount tire needs to order me 3 new ones since they scratched them on the rock rings. Lot's of rubbing and already trimmed about 2 inches of plastic off. Need to call SDHQ and get the CMC.

Huge improvement! Very nice.

Just lost 2 wheel weights as I was going to get beer! I am not happy with the install by Discount tire. They usually have been very good but this time they screwed up 3 of the rims, plus spare and now wheel weights are coming off already??

That's crazy! I've never had a single issue. Sorry for the hassle but at least I know they'll make it right.

How did they screw the wheels up?

scratches on the rock ring while putting the tires on. Something about the tool they were using and not adjusting something. Two of them are pretty bad.

That sucks, which location was this?

48th/Chandler in Ahwatukee. Usually go up to the one in Tempe off Elliot/Priest but decided on the Ahwatukee one.
They are ordering me 3 new rims, just hope they do it right this time. Still confused as to why I am loosing wheel weights fron the front passenger tire and no where else?
The truck needs aligned too. It feels much different now!
Tomorrow morning I am going to check the tire pressure, lug nuts, etc. Too hot out now and I just poured a cold one! What tire pressure is good with these tires? Had 38 front and 40 in rear on my old setup and it worked pretty good.

SL or LT tires? I ran 38 psi front / 36 psi rear on my P-metric ones.

Thanks!
RIght now they seem to glide rather than grab like the old tire. Think I have over 40 in both.

That definitely seems like too much. I found 38 to be just right with mine but I had significantly "softer" sidewalls. I think 37/38 should be a starting point and you will likely want to air down a bit to find the sweet spot.

I might run out there now and check, along with some guns so I can join the guns and taco thread!!
Thanks!

Dang, that’s some shit. I always love going to them. Guess the tech had something going on in his personal life that probably distracted him. Check your lugnuts are tight, lol.

CMC completed but still some rubbing. Need to cut some more! Really liking the Falkens so far!
