So I ordered these ICON rebound black on bronze wheels back in March about 2 months after buying the truck. They are 17" x 8.5" with 4.5" backspace.

Now I love the look and the initial feeling about them was literally love at 1st site. But I now have issues with a few things. Since having them I've taken the truck out to the mesa a few times. I'm disappointed because the rim sticks out past the inside of the tire wall by about an 1/2 inch where the fake bead look is. This has caused them to be more vulnerable to rocks that can damage them when out on the trails.

With all that being said I've noticed that I've accumulated 2 gouges on 2 different rims. One the outside of the fake bead lock about an inch long.

And the second on the inside of the bead lock about 5 inches long.

Now I understand this all comes with having fun on the trail and maybe this is just me bitching because I was the one who actively fucked them up (which I am, trust me). But shit I was really expecting higher quality while on the trails and didn't expect a rim to be so easy to damage. I do believe its because they have that fake bead lock that stick out a bit compared to a wheel that sits flush to the rubber they are more susceptible to damage.

I'm really just giving you my personal feed back on these. Be aware that there is this issue that can cause damage to your wheel investments. I've even reached to Icon and all the said it was out of their hands, which I understand. If yours looking for a look their great, if your a weekend warrior and hit rocky terrain or trails be aware you could damage them.

So I guess I'll ride these bitches until they are no more.

Has anyone else had this issue with these or anything else?

Peace✌, love❤ and 3G?

sand it down and spray some satin black paint on the area. it won't look too bad.
Yeah its probably my plan. It just sucks I'll have to make it bigger before smaller. Good advise though. Thx?

Having a fake beadlock or a rock ring that sticks out past the sidewall does make the rims a lot more vulnerable to rock rash, but at the same time they protect the most vulnerable part of the sidewall and bead of the tire in doing so. It's kind of a mixed bag, on one hand you don't want your wheels getting beat up, on the other hand it's nice to have the added protection for the tire that actually gets you home.

Of course this is the very reason why I strongly prefer removable rock rings because you get the protection of a fake beadlock while being able to remove, replace, or repair the damaged outer area effortlessly. My newest wheels have nylon rock rings on the outside that have proven to be durable so far, are cost-effective to replace, don't cause balancing issues, and never need painted because there is no paint or coatings to scratch/chip/flake off.

That's a good way to look at it. ?

I don’t especially like the groove behind the beadlock. I park next to a sprinkler and it always retains water. Even after a 20 mile drive, the water is still there. Haven’t noticed any shaking at highway speeds (Related to the water anyway). Never got water in the front rim, so not sure if that would cause any balance issues.

Otherwise, i love the look of these wheels. ?

Water won't throw them off balance because it's not just sitting in one spot as the wheel turns. My SCS Ray10s held a lot more water than that around the front lip, they were matte black so the water and dirt marks would kind of "stain" the finish if they dried like that. I don't see it being much of a problem on yours although it is annoying.

The Ray10s would also cake up with mud and snow both in front of and behind the spokes and the only time I ever noticed balancing issues was after there was literally 1/3" or more Arizona clay mud caked on the inside so I wouldn't worry too much about that.

Good to know, thanks! I love my wheels now. ?
